Homecoming and More Coming up Next Week. . .
Homecoming is always a great weekend in college football. This year's Homecoming celebration for the Cowboys will offer even more than the usual. In addition to all of the festivities that accompany Homecoming, Larry Shyatt and his Cowboy basketball team are hosting a "Night of Madness" in the Double A on Friday, October 14th. The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. with the annual Homecoming Sing, sponsored by the Iron Skull Honorary Society, one of the great traditions of that special weekend. Following the Sing, there will be a night of basketball including interviews and player introductions. The evening will conclude with Hypnotist Chris Jones sponsored by Friday Night Fever.
Special guests will include NBA television personality Jeff Van Gundy, as well as a special guest from the NBA's Chicago Bulls. The Cowboys' will be introduced on video by ESPN's Dick Vitale. Van Gundy will interview UW head coaches Dave Christensen, Carrie Yerty, Joe Legerski and Shyatt.
The evening is dedicated to the family of Janet and Chris Constantinides whose son Alex lost his wife and children in a tragic automobile accident this past summer. Shyatt and the Cowboys are spearheading a fundraising effort to support the Half the Sky Foundation, an organization that has meant a great deal to the Constantinides family. Everyone will have an opportunity to donate to the foundation during the evening.
It should be a fun night. Of course Christensen's Cowboys host UNLV for the big Homecoming game at noon on Saturday.
