Friday Night Will be Madness. . .
Friday night will be a tipoff to the 2011-12 Cowboy basketball season and the Homecoming weekend as Larry Shyatt and his team host a Night of Madness in the Arena-Auditorium. The event will feature special appearances by coaches from the Wyoming Athletic family, and will be co-emceed by Voice of the Cowboys Dave Walsh and ESPN's Jeff Van Gundy.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. for the free event. Fans can take in the annual tradition of the Homecoming Sing, sponsored by the Iron Skull Honorary Society. Organizations from around campus compete to show who has the most school spirit. That will begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by the Night of Madness.
Van Gundy, a former NBA head coach and current ESPN analyst will be on hand for the event featuring UW head coaches Carrie Yerty (volleyball), Dave Christensen (football), Joe Legerski (women's basketball) and Shyatt. A special guest from the NBA's Chicago Bulls also will make an appearance before a video introduction of the latest edition of the Cowboys taped by ESPN's Dick Vitale. Hypnotist Chris Jones will conclude the night's activities with a performance. A special thanks goes out to Friday Night Fever.
The evening is dedicated to the family of former UW Faculty-Athletic Representative and English professor Janet Constantinides and her husband Chris. The Constantinides' son, Alex, lost his wife and children in a tragic automobile accident this summer.

The first 10,000 fans to enter War Memorial Stadium for Saturday's UNLV game will receive pink koozies, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The koozies are courtesy of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and Pepsi Cola of Wyoming. In addition, State Farm Insurance agents will be handing out 4,000 rally towels to Cowboy fans.
Desiree the Survey Winner. . .
University of Wyoming Sports Properties would like to thank all of the fans who participated in its fan survey between September 20 and October 7. Over 2,000 individuals participated. Desiree Shasa, a UW graduate student, was the lucky winner in the random prize drawing. She won a round-trip airline ticket on Allegiant Air.

The Park will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public. The live band will be Danno and his Have Fun Will Travel Band.

Are You Strong Enough?. . .
One of the fun traditions of Wyoming Homecoming is the annual "Car Push". Ordinarily scheduled for the Friday prior to Homecoming, this year's push is scheduled for Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the southwest corner of War Memorial Stadium.
There are two weight classes for the Push teams, under 1,200 pounds and over 1,200 pounds. The weigh-in is right before the event begins. If you are interested in putting together a team, email Shelley at [email protected], and she can get you registered. That's 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Teams will be timed while pushing an automobile up the Stadium's west ramp.

Congratulations to volleyball's Jodi Purdy who earned Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Week honors after the Cowgirls' outstanding win over Colorado State. The junior from Winterset, IA had a great week against Northern Colorado and CSU. The Cowgirls host TCU on Thursday and New Mexico on Saturday. Both games are scheduled at 7 p.m. in the UniWyo Sports Complex.
The Cowgirl soccer team is on the road this week at New Mexico on Friday and at TCU on Sunday.
The Cowboy and Cowgirl swimming team opens its regular season at the DU Relays on Saturday are noon.
The Wyoming cross country team travels to Terre Haute, Indiana, this week to compete in the Indiana State Pre-National meet. The Cowgirls compete at the Indiana State Pre-National Invite.
Las Vegas is the site for this year's Mountain Regional Tournament for the Cowgirl tennis team. That begins tomorrow and continues through Sunday.
