Wyoming came knocking, whether it was because of his family connections or his ever-developing game, early on in the process but started to “back off” going into Mike’s junior year at Kimball. It was about that time that South Dakota State and head coach Scott Nagy seemed the like the right place to be.

“It’s honestly unbelievable,” he said. “This was a school that I would have loved to have come to but I can’t complain about where I’m at now. And I love that the entire Kimball community came out here.

We just went another direction (Jonathan Barnes was the big man we signed in that class). I don't know why, but Tom Lacock over at GWG had a good article on Daum during his recruitment a couple of years ago where he talks about how Wyoming backed off.

We missed that one. Probably the biggest miss of its type since Jaycee Carroll.

Damn. Daum would be a great addition to this team right now. Missed on him. I think Edwards (and Shyatt before him) really stepped up recruiting and we are getting kids that will make a difference. We missed on Parker Stewart but landed Thompson who looks like will be the real deal. You cant win them all but the ones you do need to be high quality and that appears to be the case lately.
