South Beach Duals

Wyoming loses to Missouri 22-10 and then loses to Cornell 28-9.

Brian Andrews and Jaron Jensen both go 2-0 for the Cowboys only real bright spots. Jensen knocked off 2nd ranked Mauller of Missouri for the Pokes biggest win of the year.

Worth mentioning also is that Doyle Trout got the call at 125 going 0-2. Have to give it to that kid for sticking with it all these years.

Bridges lost to Tucker from Cornell again. Intermat ranks Tucker #6 and Bridges #7 in a loaded 133 weight class.

Overall, the defections and Verner injury have really taken their toll on this team.

Nice showing for Jensen and Andrews. I have a feeling Bridges will be an AA this year once more

He will keep all his matches close that’s for sure. Talent wise, there are only 3 better wrestlers at 133 (Rivera, Gross, Desanto). But without Bryce in the room to push him, I’m not so optimistic.

Wyoming knocks off Old Dominion 24-15. Bridges and Andrews both with falls. Krueger falls to highly ranked Early in sudden victory 10-8. If Verner and Hastings were healthy, this dual would not have been nearly as close.

Wyoming loses to Michigan State 18-12 to close out the South Beach duals. Wins for Andrews, Bridges, Buchanan and Moody. Very disappointing loss considering that Michigan State has like 1 ranked wrestler and this is a dual that I would have thought would be an easy win going into the season.

Andrews finishes 4-0 at the duals. Briges finishes 3-1. Jensen finishes 3-1. The rest of the team not much to speak of. Tate Samuelson was the most disappointing finishing 1-3 to a bunch of unranked wrestlers.

Right now - it looks like 2-4 total NCAA qualifiers (Andrews, Bridges, Hastings and Jaron Jensen).

What's up with Hastings? Will he be back this year?

I think he hurt his hand at Reno. I haven't read or heard anything about the prognosis. Need him back badly to get this team going in the right direction.
