Using an old basketball media guide (1990-91), I found out that the last time we started 12-0 was 1950-51 season under Everett Shelton. After starting 12-0, we ended up losing ouir first game that year to........BYU in Laramie.

We finished the year at 26-11 but no post-season.

BTW, our National Title season of 1942-43 season, we only started out with a 3 game winning streak before losing first of only 2 losses that year. We lost to Duquesne in Pittsburgh in the fourth game of the year, 43-33. Our only other loss that season was against Phillips "66" and I honestly don't think it's the same team as Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma that used to play basketball (and other sports) until 1998s when the university closed down for good.

Back then didn't universities count any games on their schedule? And doesn't Michigan count games against highschool teams from the 30s-50s on their career wins list?
