SMU on the 2nd. Let's go Cowboys!!

Pokes are going to have to play come out firing on all cylinders in that game. Get out to a fast start and play great defense, should be another fun one to watch!

For what it's worth, I think that the BleacherReport deal with undefeated teams actually had the Pokes running their record out to 17-0 before losing in Vegas on Jan 24. ;)
 
SMU got beat last night 63-53 by Wagner, a 6-4 team. Also they got beat by Utah and last night Utah got beat by CS Northridge. So does that mean that SMU isn't that good or does it mean that anybody can beat anybody else at any time.
 
It's Basketball a game of quick scoring and numbers, Unless you get out to a 20-0 start and maintain that lead anyone can beat anyone. Hell we have seen nights where teams that aren't supposed to do anything are on fire from 3 and then we have seen nights where that same team can't even hit 1.

Anyone can always beat anyone else! But I believe our strong defense and our push in the 2nd half will keep us in most if not all games.

SMU doesn't have any bigs, shooters or depth. They don't have a chance to be good until next season when their transfers and new recruits can play. They've played with as few as a 6 man rotation. I think they had 9 available to play but 2 or 3 players are hurt. Two football players were going to play on the basketball team starting this month but only one has joined and he hasn't played basketball in a few years and he may not be any good anyway. They just don't have depth. Wyoming should win easily. SMU was beaten by 22 by Rhode Island and I think Wyoming could beat Rhode Island.
 
Let's remember this is a road game and no matter how good or bad the opponent is it will be a tough test for the Pokes. However, if the Pokes play defense the way they are capable of and hit their free throws they should be able to run their streak to 13-0!
 
I'm excited for this game. Despite the 12-0 record, so many critics believe that's just the product of a weak schedule. This game will surely tell us. SMU is good, but hardly NCAA Tourney good. Win, and Wyoming will continue to trend upwards. Lose.....and the hype might cool off a bit.
 
I don't care how weak or tough the schedule is - they sure built much buzz by just winning. I guess that's all that matters - winning!!!

we win each game by an average of 14.75 ppg...
and the second half numbers are even more impressive...

we win by 14.75 ppg and out score teams by an average of 11.67 points in the 2nd half.

And smu is not 1/2 the team isu is. Earlier in the season I was worried about smu but I think the only way we lose at SMU is if we come out rusty and smu plays lights out. But I don't see that happening. Wyo will win easily. By 15.
 
I don't know why people expect us to go on the road to SMU and cruise. We'll be lucky to get a win.

Larry Brown is coaching there. He won't be surprised by anything we do. That guy is a hall of famer. It's in Texas. We've struggled against TCU on the road.

I think this game requires a complete team focus. We saw what happened to UNM at home. They couldn't shoot that night, they weren't playing great d, and they lost in the Pit. We saw what happened in Illinois. They got hot and hit seven three pointers faster than you can ask what happened. They had a 21 point burst in the blink of an eye, while we were playing good defense.

I'm not saying we can't beat SMU by a comfortable margin. I just think we're going to have to work our asses off all night and be completely focused. Sometimes, that won't even save you.

Well from my view point, yes they are coached by larry brown but he is not coaching a kansas team that won the NCAA tourney. They are going to be like us...good in his first year but inconsistent.
Wyo will win. It won't be a "blowout" but a 15 point win is reasonable because we play D. We have Leonard friggin Washington, the best player in the MWC. Franklin from SDSU, doesn't compare to leonard. Anyways.... Wyo will make smu play our game. We won't get into a high scoring game because we are the better team with better players and better coaching and will make smu play wyo ball.
Wyo and smu will be close in the first half then wyo will pull away. And of course everyone is going to say it is because smu had a bad night and that's why they didn't win. Kind of like CU fans saying that shit....
Anyways....Pokes win and I've had too many x-mas morning bloody marys.
 
Cowboy junky is dead on!! It wasn't that long ago we couldn't win a non conf road game and now everyone is penciling them in! Big layoff and road game could be a bad combo.
