Smith the Best QB in the MWC?

Right now he has the 12th ranked QB rating, the highest in the MWC.

There is definitely an argument for Brett being the MW's best, but I'm not sure you can base it just on those stats. Lord knows Taylor Martinez is nowhere near being a Top 10 QB.

I think we here on this message board are doing all we can do to get him boosted up on the http://www.voteobrien.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; site. The students need to get more involved in this. He should be at least 12th if he is rated 12th in the country, but he is now 23rd. Riley Nelson/bywho is way higher on the list. :puke:

And yet he's been abysmal this year.

And yes, I have been voting for Brett every single day.

Well, I can look at it this way. If I'm his center, am I satisfied with his play?

No YOU wouldn't be, because he takes the snap from shotgun, so "his play" is not up touching your butt every play.

Oh whatever, that's not what I'm talking about. You completely misunderstood.

OK, if I'm his wide receiver would I be satisfied with his play?

Hard to say... havent seen all the other QBs, but I will say Brett and the WRs are scary good under pressure, and he is crazy competitive. I agree, I wouldn't trade him for anyone in college football... anyone.

Brett Smith is a really good quarterback.. but there are some good QBs in the MW that are in the same tier as he is.. Fajardo at Nevada, Carr at Fresno.. Holbrook at New Mexico isn't terrible, but his team is. Next year Utah State is bringing in Chuckie Keeton.. there will be a solid class of MW quarterbacks next year.

Keeton, Fajardo, and Smith are all in the same class too. Solid "class" too

joking im just joking!

But I think that honestly, brett smith is in a differentl league then fajardo and carr.
I think that brett smith is in a league with kansas states qb and tennessees, and just below tyler wilson and matt barkley.

Brett smith could start for over 90% of the teams in the country.
He could start at any MWC school, could start at texas, even alabama auburn florida and especially vandy.

He could start at michigan state, penn state, wisconsin. Man i could go on all day about the schools he could and would start at.

Next year, I think Brett Smith might be literally the best qb in the country, and his senior year, (assuming he keeps progressing and stays healthy) I think he will definitely be.
The kid is just a freak and have you guys noticed how many times they are letting him just sling the ball? No tim tebow 5 yard screen passes, he is straight up just throw 60+ yard bombs down field.
And he can throw in some real tight windows as well.
And the jump ball.
If our D forces some turnovers against nevada, win or loss, brett smith could throw for 400 yards as nevada will be running the ball and scoring on us.
Same with air force and fresno.
Brett smith has a chance these next three games to put up some insane numbers. And man I hope it happens, I just hope we win all three also!

This Brett Smith guy sounds a lot like Chuck Norris and John Fletcher.

Smith by a mile. BSU's guy is a mutt, Faradho/Furaika/Furmadanabe...whatever his name is from Nevada is a poser, Carr...give me a break! The only other two out there that look fundamentally sound like Smith are Geno and the kid from K State.

My 2 cents anyway.

Brett is special and I'm sure glad these years I'm at UW and can watch him play every home game. I have no doubts that if he is playing the last drive against Toledo that we win that game and we blow out Cal Poly.

I think there are some quality qb's in the conference but none as well rounded at Brett Smith. The more I watch Brett the more I'm amazed at him. It was amazing that he played with an injured throwing hand last season and still had me in awe most games.

I sure hope he manages to stay healthy and that we continue to get good recruiting classes these next two years so that his senior year can be truly special.

Matt Barkley is good yes, but he would have a hard time as a pocket passeer on our team. Brett is perfect for our team but the receivers should get some credit as well. The last pass against Idaho was pretty much a jump ball and if the Idaho defender gets a pick we are all ticked Brett threw it up for grabs on the first down. Brett did throw it on the run while getting hit, but if Claiborne doesn't come through we all would be singing a different tune right now. Credit to the receivers as well but Smith is still amazing. He had a lot of perfect passes that game and about half came as he was running, getting hit, or both.

Better pass protection should be a high priority on this team along with a better D. All the opponents are "T"-ing off and blitzing on just about every down. Come on coaches - this is a no-brainer.

If they blitz us, expect brett to get him more obviously, but he can take the hits as well. Not only that but if they start blitzing superman, superman will just start throwing more and more quick TDs.
