Sloppy, frustrating game but...

The point is that the state hasn't embraced the Pokes. Folks show up when UW plays someone important, not to watch the Cowboys.

Some say that the fans will come with wins....that's the problem. The state needs to fully embrace the Pokes. We a whole state of BeaverPokes...the brown and gold cool aid drinking fans, not fair weather fans who show up when the weather is nice and a big name team shows up at the War.
FWIW, BeaverPoke didn't go to the game.

I was all ready to go to the game but another issue came up. Not going to talk about what that issue was, but my no-show had nothing to do with the opponent being NC or the weather.

Pathetic attendance. Can't even get 20K.....

Weren't there extenuating circumstances though? How many people from Colorado actually were able to make it up, not that there would've been a thousand of them to get to 20K, but still. I'm sure that being a FCS school there wasn't much buzz around the state. I think that 19K isn't bad for this game.

I drove up from Denver, but it took some effort. I-25 was closed northbound at Harmony road and there was a glut of people clogging routes trying to get home. Took about 4 hours. I guarantee that 90%+ of the people in Denver that would've come up didn't try - and it's understandable.

Coming home was a breeze though...

Not our best game, but we took care of business as an FBS team should vs an FCS team. After last years disaster, this was a good day. Not that I mind seeing the defense putting points on the board, but I wish our offense scored more. It's a tough team to read this year, but the season is still young. Going forward I almost felt better after the Nebraska loss than I do with the NoCo win. It's also good to see a not as effective as normal Brett Smith, still move the ball. Next week will be the first game that will show what we do or do not have this year. Almost all of us pretty much figured we would be exactly where we are right now. Two wins vs total cream puffs and a hard loss to a quality team.

I came up from Colorado Springs on Friday night. I had to go clear to Fort Morgan to get across the South Platte. Took 5 hours to get to Cheyenne, a trip that normally takes half that. Can't imagine many others would have bothered to try, I almost didn't myself.

Coming home was a breeze for me too, but I left right after the game since there was more rain in the forecast. I-25 looked as though it ran down the center of several lakes. Saw an RV dealer with about 2-3 feet of water in his lot. Must have been 100 flooded campers in his lot.

In regard to the game, I feel like our punt return game could stand a lot of improvement. I understand there are times that a fair catch is warranted, but we need someone who can field the punts and at least get a few yards runback instead of letting it roll down inside the 10 and get downed there by the kicking team.

To be fair, on the very next punt he took it about 10-15 yards.

Was that Rufran or somebody else?

Didn't catch the name, but they apparently learned (one way or the other) from the last punt "return" not to wave it and let it drop outside of the 20 yard line.
