I pose the question...
If programs like Boise State, CSU, & Denver are winning big... Why can't we?

Oh lord....."Why can't we" are the scariest three words you can type on WyoNation. Brace yourselves for a 4-6 page thread.ProudWYOAlum said:I pose the question...

CSU could fall off a cliff next winter.....totally different roster.NowherePoke said:CSU is a result of a long term roster build-up engineering by Tim Miles. Too early to know if they can sustain after this group of seniors moves on.
YankPoke said:I don't think CSU will fall off a cliff next year. They will be nowhere near where they are this year, but they will probably be like we have been the last two years. Eustachy is a very good coach and will keep them competitive.

They were crap in a GREAT conference, got a new coach who hired some good assistants, and now they are winning conference titles.
Hopefully we can follow the path.
They live and breath it. They have always been a giant, even if they went through a dark period. Alabama went through a dark period under probation for a long time. Still was recognized as "the" program in college football.OrediggerPoke said:There is no comparison between Wyoming and Indiana in basketball. I doubt many people would leave Indiana out of their top 10 basketball programs throughout history. Indiana is basketball.

I think basketball is an easier sport to rise to the top when compared with football, but that doesn't mean it will be easy. Hell, New Mexico sells their souls to be great at basketball and they still struggle to be in that top echelon on the game.

Why is that the case? I've heard others say the same thing.
Uh...yeah, what he said.OrediggerPoke said:Land 2-3 great recruits in basketball that pan out and there you go. Land a great QB and a great RB in football with little else and can still have a crappy team.

That, and its easier to afford.....especially nowadays, where being great at football is extremely expensive.
