I love this quote from Shyatt:
Recruiting is a process and the best way for our staff to sell Laramie and the University of Wyoming is to use us as a litmus test. We chose to return after being places like UCLA and Florida, because we believe in and know we can make a contender here.
That would say a lot to me as a recruit. The top assistant at Florida gave up winning national titles and the top assistant left the college basketball mecca of UCLA to come to Wyoming because they believe they can win championships here? I'd be a believer immediately.

That is simply spectacular... :thumb:

One thing I love about Shyatt is that he isn't anything close to Burman or Christensen or the Wyoming government or board of trustees.
What I mean by that is he doesn't make any excuses whatsoever no matter the situation. He believes he can and will get the job done and he works with what he has got to make it the best possible situation. He always talks positive and doesn't talk negative or listen to any naysayers.
He could have the worst possible team and you wouldn't hear him make any excuses he would try to go out and figure a way to get the job done.

Can't say the same thing for anyone else at the University of Wyoming for the most part.

God Bless Larry Shyatt!

Go Pokes!

This is why it is sometimes better to hire older, experienced coaches (nothing against youth, but he's been there and done that and there is something to say for a lifetime of experience)....Shyatt really landed 3 high quality recruits here. The future of Cowboy basketball looks really bright right now. Great job Coach!!! Go Pokes!

But seriously...I love coach Shyatt and what they are doing!
If this keeps up, and we get some big seasons, Wyo will just reload, not rebuild.

The one aspect I've been concerned about since Larry Shyatt returned was his recruiting. I have the utmost confidence in his technical knowledge of the game and his ability to get the players to fully buy into his philosophy, but his recruiting left something to be desired. I always had the feeling he was still recruiting guys to compete at the level of the MWC during his first stint here, not the much improved talent level that the MWC now boasts.

Well, this recruiting class has put me at ease a bit. This is, by far, Larry's best recruiting class since returning. I'm usually not one that gets excited about recruiting "project players", but this Barnes kid has me really pumped. I have a feeling he is going to be a monster in a year or two. Both Lieberman and Jones have solid MWC talent. Nice class!
