We are owning the recruiting in colorado.
And hitting up cali is nice too. Coach Duncan has probably got some great ties in california

Here is a video I placed on Poke Pride of Wyoming recruit Keonta Vernon breaking a backboard on a dunk as a sophomore in high school.

That statement might be a little bit strong.

We didn't even get the top prospect out of Colorado this season in Carlton Hurst. Instead, he ended up at Colorado State. To Shyatt's credit, Hurst was one of his top targets in this years recruiting class, but he lost out to CSU.

The guys Shyatt has been signing out of the high school class all seem to be "raw, but with huge potential" type. Unfortunately, very few of them look like they are ready to make an early impact, and I have my doubts that some of them will ever develop into an impact player in the MWC. Does this have anybody else the least bit concerned?

We've been lucky to have some JUCO and transfer players carry the team these past few seasons. It will likely be the same next season, as Charles Hankerson is probably the best player currently on our basketball team (yes, better than Washington). I'd like to see Shyatt bring in some freshman who can make an immediate impact next year with these remaining scholarships.

Very concerned. All the coaching in the world can't make up for fundamental talent differences and we run the risk of facing a pretty large gap in that regard over the next few seasons.

Our Colorado recruiting has been fine, except for the Hurst miss, and he was certainly one of our top targets in this class. We didn't get the top players in CO last year either (Scott and Gordon), but we were never in the running (both went to CU and Scott in particular could have gone almost anywhere).

Nothing wrong with the JC and transfer route. That's has been very successful for the top teams in the MWC, but looking at next year I only see two guys that we can safely say will be solid contributors (Hankerson and Nance). I am sure that at least one or two of the younger guys currently on the squad will emerge this year (two of the Adams, Haldorson, Cooke, McManamen, Grabau group), but it's still pretty thin.

While it makes me slightly concerned yes, I also think that with getting very talented and athletic kids is fine as well. We have a coaching staff on par with some of the bast as pure coaches and if you give them very talented and athletic kids that they can teach the fundamentals to I believe they will turn into great players. While I would prefer proven players coming out of high school I believe with the coaches we got it is less important to get players who are fundamentally sound, because that is teachable one thing you can't teach is talent and athleticism which is what we seem to be getting.

There are technically 2 scholarships remaining, but the good word is that Trey Washington has verbally committed and will sign the paperwork soon during a visit...or something like that.

Yep. He has to fill out a financial aid form or something like that, then when he good to go for college (academically) he will sign (basketball wise)

Here is the deal - at least the way I see it. This Wyoming Basketball program was so far down when Coach Shyatt & his staff got here and he got here so late in the year, that I am surprised he was able to recruit anyone at all. They got over 20 wins his first season. That is partially due to a soft schedule, but the previous coach had very soft OOC schedules too and didn't even get a winning season his last season he was here. Now we have fans that think Coach Shyatt should be recruiting the top talent in the country in his second year here. I believe Coach Shyatt's recruiting classes will get higher rated recruits as this program becomes more successful and gets more recognition. Maybe Wyoming should hire a Michael Jordan to be an assistant on the staff so we can recruit top talent like UNLV did.
