Spoke with source today who told me that in all likelihood former Wyoming HC Larry Shyatt will be joining Donovan's NBA staff in OKC shortly

I just saw you posted that on twitter. Was about to post this.

If you know how to post it with the original tweet please go ahead. I'm afraid I'm too computer illiterate to know how to execute such a maneuver.

When I get on my computer I will. My phone doesn't like when I try to post tweets. Or if anyone else gets to it first. Is there anymore info or is it wait and see?

The information I posted is all I was told this evening.

The information I posted was all I was told earlier this evening. The conversation started and Shyatt was not even the topic. I was told about it as the talk ensued.

I see. I was always hoping if he left it would be to the NBA. Hope he gets the gig. Always loved papa shy and thankful he got us moving back in the right direction.

I knew this was on the horizon, probably shouda been last year, but he wanted to stay for Josh's senior year

So... So much for "the long haul" and "retiring at Wyoming" talk. He barely stayed for one recruiting cycle

Frankly, I'm not surprised if this is indeed the direction he takes. He shit on Wyoming the first time he was here....made it sound like it was the only place he wanted to be, and then bolted for Clemson. Then he comes back with the "heart warming" story that he wanted to finish what he started. Well, I guess he figured winning the MWC tourney was finishing what he started. In all honesty, his results in conference play were less than stellar. I have never believed he's a "great" coach and I think Edwards will prove to be a much better fit for the modern game. Good luck to Shyatt in whatever he pursues, but I look forward to the new era in Laramie. :twocents:

Couldn't agree more. Like I said Shy got us moving in the right direction but when the rumors of him leaving started I wasn't worried. There were certain things that drove me crazy watching his teams. Mostly on the offensive side of the court. I don't know how many times we passed up a wide open shot just because there was still time on the shot clock. I know Edwards likes to say he is defensive minded coach but I hope he does a total revamp on the offensive side. Take the shot when its open and maybe go for some offensive boards we have some awesome shooters on this team why not give them some second chances.

Agree 100%. Never was sold on his "philosophy". The more I hear Edwards talk, the more excited I get.

Not sure why most of you sound like you are upset? Who cares what Coach Shyatt does. No reason to whine about it. If he wants to coach in the NBA with his friend then great. I wish him luck doing it.

Have some class. Shyatt didn't hurt Wyoming basketball so not sure why you are all upset. Good luck to him. He doesn't owe anyone anything.

As far as Edwards goes who knows if he will be better or not. He talks a good game but so does every other coach.

As the old saying goes "talk is cheap". Let's see what he actually does.

Well to say he hasn't hurt UW is a bit of a stretch, he did SUE the University at one point... And while he may not have been a detriment like Shroyer, he certainly hasn't set the bar very high... His record is fraudulent and was the benefactor of a magical and 1-In-A-Million tourney run.... I have no ill will toward Larry but don't blow smoke up our ass like we didn't see this coming minute one.

Have class? Like telling the fan base I am going to slink off into retirement because I poured everything I had into UW and have nothing left and then the second its available jump on a new coaching job... Have class? Tell us the damn truth. Hey UW fans, I love you but I have a better opportunity with my best friend with lots and lots and lots of money. I can atleast respect that....

He pulled us out of the pit and I'm grateful. I really liked him as a coach and he gave me a great first mw tournament experience that I'll never forget. I'm just saying that if the rumors are true, which they tend to be lately, he sort of shafted us again.

He said this would be his last COLLEGE JOB, good luck to coach Shyatt hoping for nothing but the best for him.

I guess I just don't see what he did wrong. He stuck around for 5 years and got us one more MWC tourney championship then every other coached combined has since Brandenburg. Not saying he is the greatest coach ever but he did a lot better than a lot of guys would have in similar situations in my opinion. He wants to be an assistant in the NBA, good for him.

Besides most of you guys think Edwards will be a better coach anyways so the good news is you don't have to deal with Shyatt's systems anymore and Edwards is the guy now.

Hopefully Edwards ends up being the real deal but the only problem with that is he is younger so he will be gone in 2 to 4 years if he does that good of a job. So the reality is no matter who we get they will leave eventually either from getting fired, retirement or moving up in the world. We aren't ever going to have a coach stick around for 10 years if they are any good unless one of us takes over which probably isn't happening :D
