Should Jay Novacek be inducted

fromolwyoming

Well-known member
into the NFL Hall of Fame? He did help the Dallas Cowboys to 3 Super Bowl Wins in 3 years and made it to 5 pro-bowls. He's already in the College Football Hall of Fame (as he should be, all things considered). But, just wondering what some of you guys think.

He was definitely one of the better receiving TEs in the game, and probably spawned part of the "modern" TE like Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates, etc. That said, TEs don't seem to get into the HOF quite as easily as some positions on the football field. Has he even been nominated yet? A lot of his Cowboy teammates have been inducted already.

Don't know if he has. But I've been watching the NFL network, and they've been having advertisements for the upcoming inductees, and that got me thinking about this, expecially considering how well he did.

He should without a doubt be inducted but I think it will be a few more years before he gets there. As it's been said TE's don't exactly get people throwing HOF votes at them.

There have been quite a few players recently inducted that left me thinking, "Huh?". Novacek could get in, but these next few classes are ridiculously loaded.

I think he might run into the same problems that some old baseball players who played before the steroid era are running into. People are putting up bigger stats since their era and when they look back, they aren't impressed. I'm thinking Dale Murphy as an example who played when 30hrs was a lot of hrs. Now we got these big time number TE's and when they look at Novaceks numbers they aren't impressed. They forget that he was Aikman's goto man! Nice to have a solid TE to goto when that WR is being doubled.
