But you are right- the WORLD goes to Las Vegas... to do things they wouldn't do where they live. Yeah. I know their coach is big on defense like Shyatt is, but they also seem to have a severe lack of offensive production year in and year out. It's great to have a stingy defense, but if you can't score, the defense will only take you so far.

In regards to SDSU, I think Steve Fischer is up there with Dave Rice on coaches who under achieve with given talent. And lets be real, how much coaching does he really do any more, he belongs in a nursing home not on a sideline coaching.

I agree that he always looks like he just shit himself. But it's a pretty big insult to compare him to Dave Rice. It takes a good coach to do what Steve Fisher did to build San Diego State to where they are now. It's great to beat both of them, but I think Fisher deserves at least a little bit more respect as a coach than Dave Rice.

Agreed. Dave Rice wins the annual award of doing the least with the most year in and year out. All that talent, and his record has been getting worse each year.

Steve Fisher is to SDSU basketball what Sonny Lubick was to CSU football......the only successful coach in that programs history.

I have no problem with SDSU losing steam. Their dickhead fans are talking about how they need to ditch this conference again. Talk about a fanbase with an unrealistic, over inflated view of themselves.

How many years do they drastically underachieve offensively though? While they might make the NCAA tournament they flame out fast. I also don't know how many times that his superior team has laid an egg against Wyoming. But lets not forget that they're under investigation for recruiting violations which could signal the end of an era down there.

Not even close. Look at Fisher over the last 4 years (post Kawhi-era): 107-33, 4 NCAA appearances, 4 NCAA wins. How many of those players are currently on a NBA roster? Answer: 0.

We have not finished ahead of them in the standings in over 10 years. Before Fisher, we dominated the series vs. SDSU and we were the superior program in every way. He changed that. He has had some talented teams, but they are hardly loaded with high level talent. They have the same number of players on an active NBA roster that we do right now (just one, although their one is an All-Star). That's fewer than Nevada, Fresno, UNLV, etc.

He has built a great program that will sustain after his departure to a point, but I suspect that SDSU fans will end up much like UNLV fans in the post-Tark era. Always trying to get back to where they believe they belong, even if there is only one coach in their history that brought that them there.
