Runs a pro-style offene? Good. Smith won't have to rely on running for his life to not get hit.
Put Smith in a drop back offense and he can scan the field for the open receiver. Or give the ball to Wick (and May next season) all year. Roll out passes for Smith as well.
Plus, you take 1 of those other receivers we have with the spread, and put a legit tight end there to BLOCK.
If we had a pro style offense, Smith and Wick would excel in it. They aren't products of the spread, they are just good football players. Not to mention, Thompson with a strong arm, and quick feet as well would do well in a pro style as well. Drop back, slide around the pocket, rollout, gun the ball. Whatever. Smith and Thompson would be fine.
Plus Bohl knows how to recruit the overlooked kid. He gets hard hitting defensive players. The defense would come to play with him.
