Season is done...Program is not.

Well it sucks. Another 2nd round exit in the CBI.
It was rough seeing Leonard and Gilmore walk off the court like that.

This team won 20 games though, which is something to be proud of no doubt.
We have a long ways to go, but compared to the final 2 years of Schroyer, to the first 2 of Shyatt (part 2) we are miles ahead of where we were. We won 20 games in those two years combined, we have won 41 in the past 2 years with multiple Top 25 wins.

Hankerson will be a huge addition to the team. Larry Nance Jr. will be the leader hands down and let's hope he still improves next season. Adams will be much improved, and for those nay-sayers that say he can not hit a jump shot need to watch him a little bit more. He is gonna be a very good player for the Pokes.
We have some talent coming back, but we have some leaders and talent leaving that will be hard to replace.

It is not like we are losing half our roster, this team is still building and very young.
The MWC is gonna be rough next season, but I don't see why we won't be able to compete better next season. It's not like we have plateaued. Let's hope our freshman next season will be able to step in and the hype around them is true.

Go Pokes, disappointing end, but the program is getting better.
Hope our OOC schedule gets us ready for MWC play next season.
W-Y-O!

PS...I will be in the football forum talking about unrealistic expectations if anyone wants to call me an overly optimistic idiot :D

Hey, at least you admit its crazy talk. Sometime I wonder. ;)

I'm really happy about what we have coming back. Nance has averaged about 18ppg and 7 boards a game in his last 5 outings. (Including these last two CBI games. For those of you who wanted the season to end after the conference tourney.)
Adams will learn from his mistakes and has been shooting better. He's avg'd 7.6 ppg in his last 13 games. Including 5 games in double figures.

Grabau: 15-40 behind the arc in the last 8 games. I think he will be more reliable this year.

We will have something good these next few years.

Based off of who's coming back next year, I could see Wyo reach 5th or better.

The season did end after the conf tourney. CBI is pointless. This board is full of either cry-babies or assholes. Not much fun either way. See you around.

Agreed, I'll take post season any day any week, 20 wins is still the magic number in CBB. I love how after his illness we saw Larry grow up and take this team as his own. I think we should have kept fouling at the end to avoid that last min shot. That had to have been the worst officiated game I have seen all year. I truly am going to miss Leonard and somewhat Derrious and man oh man what if Martinez plays (oh well). We need to work more on our offense next year and create some opennings, as last night going into OT, with 2 of their bigs with 4 fouls a piece, get them outta there!!!
I know people are never satisfied with the CBI, but it was truly fun to watch this team all season, and we can only go up from here, learn how to win a conference game or 2 and keep the defense intensity. We are still light years ahead of where we are spoze to be it was a short 3 years removed from only winning 10 games a season.
We'll be back next year ready to take on the challenges.

I'll be on sparingly until football season, thanx for the posts, debates and GO POKES!!!! Until Nebraska, and boy won't that be fun!!!! Take care y'all

Hey the 55 people that went to the AA last night for the game don't think it's pointless. OK, it's pointless. Let's hope Shyatt can recruit someone who can make a basket from outside six feet.

What message board isn't? And in which category do you place thyself?

I really like the way Nance came back from the Injury and illness. I thought he was our best player for the last 5-7 games, which is encouraging. He is starting to display some post moves (loved his turnaround jumper in the lane last night) and really does a good job of collecting the ball on lobs, etc. with his long arms. Needs to continue to get stronger so that he can bang in the paint, but he is a very solid player.

Looking forward to Hankerson. Will be nice to have some size and playmaking on the perimeter.

I have liked Adams game all year, particularly on defense. He does need to improve his perimeter jump shot (23% from 3 when you are 6'1" is not going to get it done), but that is something he can work on. He doesn't need to become Martinez or Ogirri, just needs to be enough of a threat that teams respect his shot.

Pretty concerned about the rest of the roster to be honest with you.

It's hard not to like Grabau, but his limitations are not the type you can fix (size, athleticism). That really only works if you are a knock down perimeter shooter, and while he isn't bad from out there, he isn't such a big time threat as to make defenses plan for hit.

Cooke has a pretty high ceiling, but is still a work in progress. Needs to spend all summer working on some post moves. He shows pretty good aggressiveness when he gets the ball down there, but doesn't really have a go to move or soft touch to convert. Obviously needs to work on FT's as well. Gets after it on the glass though.

Sobey should probably have played more, but I think he got lost on defense once in a while. Not at all uncommon for a JC to really take a big step between their Jr. and Sr. years. Barring a surprise late signee (it seems like we are going after HS kids right now, so probably not much help next year), that might be our best hope on the perimeter is that Sobey can step up his game.

Haldorson just needs to get stronger. Probably more of a factor as a Jr. and Sr. then next year.

I still think the Pokes need a perimeter scorer (particularly a 3point shooter) and a big man added to the roster, but it doesn't really seem like they are heavily pursuing either right now. Most recent news involves a couple of HS guards (Muhammad and Harris) and haven't heard any recent news about big men. Technically only one scholly open right now and we haven't been given any indication that will change, although you never know.

Alyssa must be bored! Lol

I am. I think I'll soon go to my Malibu home for a bit. I just got back home, but I guess I'll be on the go again. I'm letting a relative live their next school year. He'll play a sport at Pepperdine. So ciao!

Lol....I always thought so.

As our season is over, I would like to say few things.

First of all, it is so hard to take the fact that Shyatt has never beat New Mexico since his first year.
New Mexico is the biggest loser in 2013 tourney.
Neither Gonzaga nor George Town can be a bigger loser than them.
I just want Shyatt to beat New Mexico.
MWC player of the year K Williams only scored 8 and respectively Tony Snell who dropped a lot of 3s against Wyoming in MWC tourney only scored 9.
Harvard shut them down and there should be no reason we could not beat New Mexico.
Wyoming players at 4 and 5 did not seem to be outplayed by any other big man in the conference except C Iverson.
We should come up with a way to shut the rest of the conference down unless we play against NBA first round pick talent. Steve Alfor might be a good "regular season coach" and I hope he keeps the losing tradition of his own in the tourney.
But Shyatt has to prove Wyoming can beat them at least one in a regular conference schedule and could receive a NCAA bid over them.

My conclusion is simple.
If we cannot beat New Mexico next season, none of Wyoming fans should hope we could go to the tourney.

I thought our guards did not seem to have the same level of talent compared to the rest of the conference especially regular conference game in UNLV this year. However, Harvard shut two of the best shooters in the conference.
I now belive it is not impossible to beat the rest of the conference.
The level of talent at 1 2 should not be an excuse as we all hope and want Wyoming could go to NCAA tourney.
