@SDSU

Tough to play against a deep bench. Pleased with the effort just a terribly off shooting night.

Consider that Maldo has been playing 40 minute games. The announcers said the most any aztec averages is 29 minutes. And they took turns harassing Maldo all evening.

Didn't watch or follow much, but looked like an ugly loss...now onto the tournament and the Bozos, again, rubber match...it can be done

I don't think so. We get no bench scoring and the starting five look like they are pretty worn out. Get Maldo in foul trouble and the game is over. I'm not sure New Mexico is as good as their record but they are more talented and deeper than us.

Yah they will likely lose and we can all forget this season ever happened.

I attended the game. They came out cold. SDSU had a great defensive effort to stop Maldo. We switched to having him pass the ball in to help, but were inconsistent on that change. We started out okay defensively, but got tired since we have no bench depth, even with the advantage of altitude.

Oden and DuSell had great games. Powell is coming along. I wish we'd been able to keep him redshirted to beef up for the banging with Mensah.

I'd say little reason to redshirt contributors anymore. Redshirts used to be to develop guys for 5 years in the program. With the portal, you never know how many years you will get and so you should just play your best players.

That and some of them might feel slighted by a redshirt and use it as an excuse to enter the portal as well.

Agreed. Few 18 year old kids realize the big benefit of a redshirt (an extra year of paid education, chance to develop physically before being thrown to the wolves) and just want to immediately play.

I kind of doubt it. I think the only redshirts are the guys who are not good enough to play right away. They're projects. Look at Barnhart. He's a redshirt freshman. He's been in the program 2 years and he wouldn't play a minute for any other team in the conference. But he's big. And maybe worth a scholarship if he develops. But I can't think of any players who have been redshirted who weren't injured or were major projects.
