Schyatt Reprimanded by MWC

After Shyatt hammered on the Mountain West this morning in his teleconference the MW publicly reprimanded him. This is embarrassing for the conference.

The MWC can take their reprimand of Coach Shyatt and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. This conference has sunk to a new low.

He broke the rules they did what needed to be done but I think the rule he broke the conference and coaches will get more attention about the change being done without the coaches which could end up with them re-thinking it.

If he hadn't said anything everyone would just think that all the coaches and schools agreed on it. I applaud him for standing up for the schools and the kids.

+1

I'm sure Shyatt knew there was a good chance he would get a reprimand or something of the nature when he said what he said . That is why he said he wasn't worried about his job and saying what needs to be said and felt at age 64 he could do that unlike maybe a younger coach.

I fully support coach Shyatt and I agree with you that with the reprimand this will get more press and coverage and maybe a change for the good will come because of it.

The Mountain West Conference has reprimanded Wyoming coach Larry Shyatt for his statements about the league's decision to limit the conference tournament to eight teams rather than 11 as it has invited in the past.

I agree with Schyatt. That is a dumb move by the conference. Why have a tournament where everyone can compete when you can have one where only the 'selected' can compete? Sounds like the Football structure now.

They shouldn't call it a tournament if they reduce it to 8 teams. They should call it bullshit.

I agree. It would be the MW Invite

I loved his rant, it's well heard and deserved let the "student athletes" play the game they were meant to play, give the teams a chance, wth

Is there any meaning to to the reprimand, or is it just a slap on the wrist? Didn't Josh get one just a couple weeks ago?

Yeah josh got one for his technical foul. It's basically a medium for the conference to publicly say that somebody did something wrong.

Damn proud he is our coach!

What a terrible decision by the MWC. Every decent conference includes all teams in the conference tournament. Unfortunately, it appears that the MWC would like to be 'small time' which ultimately may lead to its demise.

Pretty sure Shyatt yesterday is why everyone hates Wyoming.. lol. Our coaches seem to have a history of not giving a single eff and just saying whatever's on their mind.. a lot of Wyoming attitude. Makes us unique.

So essentially a meaningless slap on the wrist for doing something Craig doesn't like

Less than a slap on the wrist, more like a soft, passive aggressive shoulder bump in the high school cafeteria

Basically the conference was upset that shyatt didn't tell them behind closed doors that he was upset that the conference didn't ask him if a rule change would make him upset. Now we're all upset. So upsetting...

Mr Burman needs to issue a statement to let us fans know what the reasoning is behind this.

The bball team just won the tourney last year. Went to the NCAA tournament. Legislature and fan's are pumping money into athletics. Why would they vote to cut costs at this time? Why didn't they consult with the coaches and athletes?

What about us fans? I generally have to plan months ahead to get time of work for anything more than a day off here and there. If it is mid january and the pokes aren't playing good, I won't be going. If they start hot and fade out, I'll be pissed if I have scheduled time off and handled travel arrangements to go to a tournament that Wyoming isn't at.

I'm with you there. Going to the Tournament isn't just a spur of the moment, drop everything and go to Vegas thing for me, I just can't change plans and my work schedule like that. As a fan how upsetting would it be if a team drops from 5th to 9th over the last two weeks of the season due to an injury, and the key player is healthy the week of the tournament? It absolutely screws the entire conference and reeks of small time thinking. Burman needs to issue a statement on why they voted like this, and did it behind closed doors. Unbelievable.

Good for Shyatt for standing up for what is right.

I love it. Are other fanbases as pissed about this as it seems like everyone here is? Does anyone look at the other boards, or MWC Board?

Other than a couple of snobs, most on the mwcboard have the same feeling.
