Another interview goes by and he makes no mention of QB Anderson. Why? What is with this guy? He is a whiny, petulant toddler who is not fit to lead
If I were UW, I’m not sure that is money well spent. Sawvel doesn’t appear to have the chops for a head coach. He can relate to players, develop positive relationships with players and understand defensive schemes. From what we’ve seen - He doesn’t appear to be able to develop cohesive gameplans, manage the roster, manage and sync the coaching staff, have the team prepared for game days, speak to the media, identify offensive players in practice who should be seeing more game time, understand and execute basic clock management fundamentals during games, maintain team discipline during games, etc… He’s basically the antithesis of Bohl - - Bohl absolutely struggled to relate to players but Bohl knew how to run a program.I honestly don't believe Sawvel is consciously trying to undermine Anderson. He is just terrible with the media. It doesn't appear that he prepares for press conferences at all. Even his prepared remarks are disjointed, and once he starts getting questions from the media, he says some really puzzling things.
I don't know this for sure, but I would suspect there are companies that help train public figures that spend a lot of time in front of the media answering questions. If I were the UW athletic department, I would highly consider doing this for Sawvel. Like it or not, the way your head coach speaks and acts in front of the camera is an important aspect of sports. It influences how fans, recruits, and even current players view the program.
Meh. Decent is a charitable description. Csewe held New Mexico to 6 points. We held them to 6 tds. Even if he isn't the DC, he has to take control of this awful defense and fix it. But maybe he can't. Maybe Bohl oversaw the defense when Sawvel was DC and Sawvel really doesn't know how to scheme after all.Peter Principle in practice. He was a decent DC but just is not a head coach.
Realistically- Because who are we going to hire? I can’t see many quality defensive coaches looking at Wyoming at this point knowing it’s likely a 1 year opportunity before a new coach and brand new staff is brought in.We have the 114th ranked defense in a relatively weak conference.
If junior isn't fired, I'd like to hear a legitimate excuse as to why.
Pete Kaligas for DC, and AHC at Wyoming. Winner. Bring him "home" and pay him what he is getting at shitburger U.Realistically- Because who are we going to hire? I don’t care whether Aaron Bohl is retained or not but I don’t see firing him and bringing in some other connection of Sawvel as likely to make a meaningful difference. Hope I’m wrong.
Kaligis makes $400K at 8-1 and 21st ranked Washington State where he was given title ‘Assistant Head Coach.’ He’s probably in line for another promotion/pay increase. I don’t see him coming back to Wyoming (especially with this dumpster fire) unless he was offered head coach position.Pete Kaligas for DC, and AHC at Wyoming. Winner. He's never even been a coordinator, so what makes you think he'd be a good head coach? Don't get me wrong, I have a high opinion of him. He's one of the "glue" guys that keeps a program together. If you haven't been a HC by the time you're his age you're probably not cut out for it. See our current HC.Pete Kaligas for DC, and AHC at Wyoming. Winner. Now you are talking...UW (Burman) should have reached out. I guess he did reach out to a different former coach that moved on as well (that I know of), that said thanks & no thanks. Why not Pete, if you are looking at coaches that fit and love Wyoming??????????Kaligis makes $400K at 8-1 and 21st ranked Washington State where he was given title ‘Assistant Head Coach.’ He’s probably in line for another promotion/pay increase. I guess my way of thinking is that not being a coordinator doesn't make him unqualified. And being a coordinator doesn't make anyone qualified either really (Vic, Dickface, Sawvel, etc.).He's never even been a coordinator, so what makes you think he'd be a good head coach? There will be candidates available. If they turn around the D then they'll get another job regardless of what happens to PBJ.Realistically- Because who are we going to hire? Inside info or something I missed? If the former, I'm guessing Vigen.I guess he did reach out to a different former coach that moved on as well (that I know of), that said thanks & no thanks.
Wouldn't it be something if he said "no thanks" because Bohl Junior was part of the deal as DC? Whoa.Inside info or something I missed? If the former, I'm guessing Vigen.
Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?If I were UW, I’m not sure that is money well spent. Sawvel doesn’t appear to have the chops for a head coach. I'd say if that was a stipulation and if the person knew junior's ability, it would be likely and should be criminal.Wouldn't it be something if he said "no thanks" because Bohl Junior was part of the deal as DC? Whoa.
