Rumor: CDC to coach Kansas next year?

Yikes....might want to add a question mark at the end of that wyokie.....you're going to scare the crap out of people with that title....Its the "Pittser to transfer" thread take two....

As for rumors....The KU fans on various blogs/message boards are claiming to have their "legit sources" saying CDC is a top candidate, but that stuff is always flimsy at best. I'm eager to hear what the Laramie media has heard.

But TBH I would not be surprised to see a high profile school poach him as he has great potential and he is a really good coach.
 
I heard just this morning he received a raise and a contract extension. Not that it means much, but quite the far cry from Kansas.
 
Buchanan and Christensen have said they are working on a contract extension/raise, but I dont think anything is signed. But I dont think DC would leave to go to Kansas would he? I was thinking he could probably do better than that.
 
Unfortunately Wyoming will always be a stepping stone for Coaches, Kansas isn't a a huge name but the amount of money he would get @ Kansas is three times what he is getting now.

Yeah, I think he could do much better than Kansas. Besides why would he want to go to the Big 12 or whatever it's called now against Missouri anyway. The only school in that conference that I could imagine seeing him go to and that would be Missouri. But who knows? Stranger things have happened.

Missouri is leaving for the Southeastern Conference in 2012 so if he were to take the KU job, he won't coach against Missouri.

I don't know about three times, but he would probably be able to get a substantial increase. He's currently making like $850,000/yer so he's going to get paid over $2.5 million per year from Kansas who's paying Gill this season about $2.1 million. Regardless of the money why would he want to take a job that has been one of the perinial bottom feeders of that conference for years--aside from the couple of years that Mangino had, i think that was his name. There are so many better jobs out there that he could get in the future. i just can't see him taking a low level BCS job like that.

I didn't realize that had been confirmed already?. Oh well, still i think he could do so much better than a second tier BCS school like Kansas. Besides other than being in a BCS conference, wouldn't Kansas really be a lateral move to Wyoming? I'm not sure, but I've never thought of Kansas as being a football school.

–I reported in Tuesday’s Wyoming Tribune Eagle and Laramie Boomerang that Christensen and athletics director Tom Burman had not been in contact from other schools about Christensen being a candidate or other coaching jobs. I talked to colleagues at two newspapers that cover schools Christensen was mentioned at — Kansas and Illinois — and they both were surprised Christensen and/or Burman hadn’t been contacted. They also said both schools are close to hiring coaches and Christensen isn’t the leading candidate, or a candidate at all at this point.

Dave Christensen Wyoming 49 MWC $700,000

Turner Gill Kansas 48 Big 12 $2,000,000

Those are numbers based on the Coaching hotseat site, So ya roughly 3 times.
 
CDC may leave one day, but those are some lame jobs. Wait for a legit one to come forward.
 
I have a couple of takes on this situation. First off Burman was the one to bring up the talks about a new contract with increased salary. If DC was considering the Kansas job Tom probably would have not mentioned the contract talks. Why draw attention to the situation if he was leaving. Secondly I don't think DC would go to Kansas. If he ever wanted to return to Missouri, taking the Kansas job would squelch that chance. In my eyes yes the Kansas job would pay better but you are a bottom school in a tough contest where the big recruits always go to your opponents or the SEC. I think DC does one of two thing, he stays next year and wins the conference championship which should be a lock for us theoretically or he stays and waits until Brett is done with his college career.
 
DC is a great coach for us, he can recruit but after 3 years at Wyoming in which had a terrible second year he shouldnt be anyones top candidate

Well really it's the other way around, an AD would make the move to increase the Head Coaches salary if they thought he might be considering offers it's pretty common to want to keep someone there. I think were good for now but the more successful DC is the more offers will come his way.
