Riley Grabau named MWC Player of the Week

Well deserved... Been very impressed with Riley this year. He's become one of the best shooters in the conference.

Congrats to Riley. He's the biggest reason Wyoming won the SJSU game. On to Tuesday's game with Fresno and I hope he keeps it up.

I like to think of it as him giving a big FU to the many people on here who have repeatedly said he shouldn't be on the team the last couple years.

I can admit that I have had issues with Riley in the past but the last six weeks he's been our MVP. Without him we lose way more than we've won. We'll deserved recognition.

Seeing people give Grabau credit is funny. How many different Wyo fans were so adamant that Grabau wasn't a legit D1 player? That he couldn't shoot? That he couldn't defend? That he was to slow?
Hell, even when he had that cold streak of like 0-11 in 3 or 4 games people were saying the same thing, now 2 weeks later let's all praise the teams MVP! HA!

He fits the mold of the ideal Wyoming player who develops, buys into the team, and plays smart basketball. He worked his butt off this past summer and it shows.

Are you saying you've never been wrong about anything, or changed your thoughts/feelings about something, or that a player stays the same as he was a year or two ago?

I think it's funny how up and down wyo fans can be too, especially after ONE game...but I think Riley's been solid all year and there is no denying that this year has been waaaay more consistent than the past 2.

Get off your high horse Beav, we are all Wyoming fans here.

Grabau's 0-11 streak was most likely due to an injured hand that had been bothering him. It has apparently healed up.

I remember last year a game where we played against a more athletic and faster team. They kept getting called for a charge because he had a slow first step and would lower his head and run them over.

I think he still has a slow first step, But now he doesn't drop his head and he paces himself as he needs to. He has definitely come a long ways that I agree with completely and he worked his ass off between last year and this year. I think he has been deserving for more MWC Player of the week recognition. I'm glad he is helping lead this team definitely one of those players you can be proud to call a Cowboy.

The funny thing about this week in Basketball, Wyoming now holds the MWC record for holding opponents to 9 points in the 1st half against SDSU last year and 2nd half SJSU this year of games.

Oh I've been wrong, and have said it before.
I am just pointing out the massive high/low of Wyo fans.

He is better, and has improved, but there were plenty of people saying he will never be a good player.

keep it up Riley!!!! shoot lights out tonight as well, along with Sobey having his best game of the season tonight as well!!!!
