7 Home, 7 Away

Although I have read that many think the MWC is a "down" conference this season, I think regardless, that no game on our schedule is a gimme - with the exception being Valentine's. Sitting at 15 & 2 right now, with 14 left, if we stay completely healthy, I believe we finish 24 & 7 - but am hoping for a 25 / 26 win finish prior to MWC tourney.

Those away games look brutal. Thoughts?

Definitely nothing easy, as we learned in San Jose.

Have to hold serve at home and steal a few more on the road. Anything less than 14-4 (25-6) and we are NIT bound unless we win the MWCT.

Agree with the away games. I would love to see us take the game at Viejas, just to shut the ass tick fans up. The Spectrum is always tough, we don't do well in Fresno (although I think we've got their number this year), and the Pit is one of the most brutal arenas in the country. I really like that we have a game in the Thomas and Mack so close to the tourney. I see it this way:

vs. SDSU - W
@ Fresno - W
vs. NM - W
@ USU - L
vs. UNR - W
vs. CSU - W
@ Air Force - W
@ SDSU - L
vs. SJSU - W
@ UNR - W
vs. Fresno - W
@ UNLV - L
vs. USU - W
@ UNM - L

An asterisk denotes a toss-up. I see us going 10-4, but that's a pretty optimistic outlook. I have to say, I don't see one game on the schedule that we can't win. There's no way in hell we go unbeaten on the road in this league, though.

I see us losing 4 more games. We'll lose against the big 3 on the road. The 4th one? Its a toss up between Utah st on the road, this Wednesday, and home against new Mexico in my opinion. Although I think new Mexico poses the smallest threat of the above 3 games. Utah st can beat anyone at home (similar to us) and this Wednesday could be bad with few students and a late start.

Honestly we could win every game left. But we may also implode as in past years

And you know what is worse on the NIT (or lesser) front - the day our season ends, the AA goes into round 2 of the remodel, shutting the facility down and not making it available for any post season play. At least that was what I remember both being told, and reading here.

I am nervous for @Fresno.

Oddly enough this is the trap game and I'm more concerned about it than anything else on the schedule.
Completely agree here.

However, I also think if UNLV continues to lose, the youngsters that make up that team will lose heart and play worse as the season progresses. Same could be true of UNM. SDSU, however, won't be the case. Fisher will have them motivated against us, regardless of what happens Wednesday or over the course of the season.

AFA always gives us trouble, and CSEwe is going to bring it hard to the retunr game at the AA.

So much knocking on wood of course...

But it's this stretch that will determine if Wyoming can keep and BUILD this ranking.

01/14/15 vs. San Diego State - First things first
01/17/15 at Fresno State - Scary game. Nobody seems to beat Fresno at SaveMart.
01/24/15 vs. New Mexico - All home games, must take care of business.
01/27/15 at Utah State - Another trapish type game.

If the Pokes win all those games, the following three should provide the opportunity to really reinforce this ranking.

01/31/15 vs. Nevada
02/04/15 vs. Colorado State
02/07/15 at Air Force

Realistically, I expect a loss or two in that stretch, but I'm hoping for 7-0. I hope they're 22-2 at this point. But of course, the next four games all worry me.

Come on Cowboys! This is is where people jump on the bandwagon, locally and nationally. Don't let this balloon pop so quickly. KEEP this ranking and build it!

Sports Gods,

For once, can enjoying legitimate success last longer than a few days, or even a week or two? Just this once?

Thanks!

Signed,

Everyone in Laramie.

One game at a time Cowboys. It's alright for the fans to speculate, but the team needs to focus on the next game. They need all the fan support they can get.

Correction: Signed about 5,000 people in Laramie, based on attendance.

I think we get 6-7k for the game Wednesday, maybe even closer to 7.5k. It should be loud, way past the Aztecs bedtime, and still at 7200 feet.

Despite that, I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Being a lifetime Cowboy fan, it's in my DNA. It sucks that I'm not just totally enjoying the ride (which I am), but also tempering my enthusiasm waiting for the next bad thing to happen.

No shit...

I sure hope no player on the team picked up my original post to analyze and evaluate.

Winning a few games in he MW tourney would go a long way to helping an at large bid, basically can counteract a few losses during the season
