Next season I am hoping we Redshirt the new recruit freshman plus Lieberman and Barnes.
They all need more seasoning and bulk.

Yeah I've thought this myself. Yes even more bulk on Barnes would be awesome, as well as further skill development. Same for Liebs. Get Liebs into the weight room more and have him work on his game another year. They'd come back as ripped Juniors and hopefully ready to hit HARD for the team. Even if they are bench players it'd be awesome to have them back as an even more improved, heady Juniors. Don't think it's gonna happen though.

Barnes seems incredibly gravitationally challenged. Face-to-face, Josh could block anything Barnes could put up. 1) Get some baby fat off him. 2) Get him doing extensive jumping exercises.

Barnes may be challenged in the jumping department, but he doesn't have much body fat on him. There have been some shirtless pics of him on twitter and he's pretty damn cut. He could use some box drills, though. Gotta improve that vert!

Only thing that would change this starting line up would be if someone quit the team or got told they needed to leave and Shyatt brought in a JC big man or transfer.

Barnes needs to redshirt and conditioning has nothing to do with that. He's just not very good as a basketball player. A year of learning the game would do him wonders.

IIRC, Trey was just about as big a recruit as him, and that hasn't quite manifested itself into much results most way through his second year playing. I'd be pleasantly surprised if Austin gets a start

I realize Lieberman isn' t the best player on the team or close to it. But, at the same stage in their careers Liebs is shooting a much better % from the arc (3rd of the team behind McM and Gorski) and averages more rebounds and steals. Grabau was better at taking care of the ball and scored a couple more points per game (Grabau was a full time starter as a sophomore).

Not a fan of player bashing....this kid is only a sophomore and should improve over the next 2 1/2 years. And, as a roll player, he brings a good shooting touch from the arc.

I'm not here necessarily trying to defend Lieberman just pointing out stats. We have the benefit of remembering Grabau as a senior but you can't really compare him as a senior to Lieberman as a Sophmore. I think Lieberman can be a good player for us. Players in the system seem to take a big jump between their sophomore to junior year. Will Lieberman turn out to be a good player? I don't know but I think he can.

Reading this really got me excited! Moemeka has a great attitude. He already knows what the team is lacking and is looking to put in the work to shore it up. Sounds like he'll be the power forward we need to fill out our bigs, his offense might be a little behind but that'll come with time. I'm really excited about Conway too. They both had great things to say and a very intelligent approach to the redshirt. It's cool that Jason's around to preach about the benefits of a redshirt to the players. I really like that we have guys that get it and are putting in the work.

We have the benefit of remembering Grabau as a senior but you can't really compare him as a senior to Lieberman as a Sophmore. I think Lieberman can be a good player for us. Players in the system seem to take a big jump between their sophomore to junior year. Will Lieberman turn out to be a good player? I don't know but I think he can.

I guess the biggest issue I have is that he tore it up this summer over seas. There were highlight videos with him scoring 15+ points and dishing the ball everywhere and looking like a stud. We just havent seen that so far back in Laramie. I have no doubt he will progress and be a productive player its just frustrating when he showed this past summer he should be producing now.

It's not like he was on some legit summer circuit, it was a bunch of Jewish kids from around the world. He was quoted as saying he was by far the best defender on the team and was tasked with guarding the opponents best player every game (He has improved a lot defensively, but he'll never have that kind of responsibility here). Johnathan Barnes would've looked like Wilt Chamberlain if he played in those games. You can't compare the talent level at that amateur tournament to Division I basketball.

My issue is there's better people sitting on the bench. Like James and Washington.
