A little blurb about Casey, pulled from the eGriz board. No source available, but interesting. Wyoming has offered him a scholarship.

Montana two-way lineman Casey McMillan still plans to make two official visits in the coming weeks as he gets ready to make his college decision by signing day. One of the visits has changed, however, as the 6-foot-4, 285-pound McMillan will no longer make a trip to Washington State this week.

Casey McMillan will visit Colorado State and Iowa this month.
"I'm going to Colorado State this weekend instead," said McMillan. "I talked to Washington State last night and they said they were getting real low on scholarships and they're looking more for tackles than guards right now. So when Colorado State called, we set up a visit for this weekend."

Colorado State is a school that actually identified McMillan as a Division I prospect early on after he attended their camp last summer. That was under the previous coaching staff, but new head coach Steve Fairchild is very interested as well.

"They offered last summer at camp and then they got the new staff in there just recently, so it's been pretty hectic for them, but the offer is still on the table as far as I know," McMillan said.

After the trip to Colorado State, McMillan will make his previously scheduled visit to Iowa on January 25. This week, the two-star prospect talked with the Hawkeyes about the upcoming visit.

"I talked to both Coach Morgan and Coach Ferentz," said McMillan. "They just said they'd see me in two weeks and couldn't wait for the visit."

While Iowa has not yet offered, Wyoming, Montana, and Montana State have, in addition to Colorado State. McMillan, who has earned first team all-state honors each of the past two years, talked about his play on the field that has led Division I college interest.

"On offense, we run the Wing-T and I'm a pulling guard, so I'm on the outside a lot. I can move pretty well and get out there quick," McMillan said. "On defense, we run a three-man front and I'm the nose guard, so I'm getting double and triple teamed every play, which opens it up for our backers and everyone. I think that's what schools like is my toughness."

Currently, McMillan plans to make his decision after his final official visit in late January.

He doesn't want to come to Montana either.. he wants to play at a big school. I'm guessing he'll transfer back here if he can't get PT.

I was surprised to hear that Washington State took the offer off the table because last time I had heard anything, he was supposed to be thier No. 1 target at lineman. I think they were his first choice, too, but he just wanted to make a visit first.

I see this a lot with recruiting. Kids hold off to the very end, waiting for something big to come along, and then they end up losing a couple of the schools they already had offers to.

But I'm sure McMillan will land on his feet. He's a big-time player. I'd expect him to get PT almost anywhere if the evaluations I've read on him are right. Some people are saying he's the best player to come out of Montana in the last decade.

Probably one of the best since Dave Dickenson or Ryan Leaf (even though he renounced his Montana citizenship). I was surprised WSU backed off too.. but they have a new head coach and things may have changed.

Recruiting is a funny thing. The Griz recruited a QB from the South, offered him, he verballed, then Samford stepped up with an offer (after overlooking him) and now want him.. but he's torn.. go with the school he originally wanted to go to (Samford) or stay true to his word and go with Montana. The 18 year old mind is a funny thing, and an awfully big decision for a young kid to make. Life impacting, for sure.

But I agree.. a lot of kids screw themselves out of a scholly because they're waiting for something better that may not be there. Harsh world.

I go to school with Casey and it loks like iowa is where he will end upASU showed a lot of interest but backed off i i think he woulkd rather play D Wyo offered him for offense line he will end up at iwoa if that falls aprt CSU it will be most likely

So you live in Montana.. are you a Cat or Griz? :)

Im a cowboy all the way born in wyo but i am a cat and go to there home agmes when not in laramie,my bro goes to MSU and casey went to iowa this weekend and verbally commited to be a hawkeye wow that is amazing big ten football,

'tis a shame! Come to Missoula for a game this year! I'd buy you a beer, but I'm guessing you cannot partake in that yet. :) :thumb:

So when you leave HS.. off to UW?

Well im in my soph. year right now and i have been to a few griz games and the atmosphere can not be matched. I wish wyo was like that. It is remarkable how griz fans pack in like that from all over and they just keep adding on to wash-griz right now after high school i am looking in to athletic training or physical therapy... So im looking at about 6 or 7 schools in no order.... 1) Wyoming 2) Northern Arizona 3) Bowling Green 4) Carrol College 5) U of Cal Santa Barbra 6) UM 7) MSU. If i go in state its probably Carrol or Missoula im not a huge fan of the people in Bozo but i love there campus

The atmosphere is great. I love it. The skydivers, Monte, the helmet.. awesome. But I'm in total agreement, I wish War Memorial could do the same. There's some things that don't help that though: the weather and location. Laramie isn't terribly accessible for people in Powell, Cody, Newcastle, etc. Plus Laramie in the winter time is pretty nasty to get over Medicine Bow or down I-80.. those two things hurt a lot. With some program prestige, those things will come. Plus, if they'd lighten up on the tailgating and have a big giant open tailgate (ala Missoula) that would help too. Inebriated fans make the atmosphere intimidating for an opponent.

A buddy of mine just finished his phys. therapy degree at UW a year ago.. he hasn't done anything with it yet, but he has the degree! NAU can be a pretty frigid place in the winter.. plus their football team blows. :) Carroll is a very nice school, and a great football team. UCSB.. VERY nice location.. it'd be hard to beat. That's where my girlfriend wanted to go at one point.. then I moved her to Montana. :)

NAU has a good school for wat im looking at and im not gonna base my decsion off athletics, I went to a basketball camp where they used UCSB'S campus and i fell in love plus loved the camp. Carrol is a good school but im not sure if im feeling the 8+ years of catholic school wt central then carrol. So ill most likely end up at MSU UM Wyo or NAU but yeah we'll see what happens with bball and everything

You most definitely have to base your decision off of athletics. :) :thumb: It passed the time for me while I was in school and there wasn't much to do for a 18-20 year old. But yeah, I could definitely see where Carroll would get old. UCSB is a unique campus, and a fairly prestigious school.. but if you went there you'd probably never come back. :)
