Proud of our fans

There was a lot of talk before the game about the number of texas fans that were going to be at the game, and many texas fans on other boards were asking if we had a loud stadium.

I have to say at the game it didn't look like more then 4000 texas fans were there (only in the endzone, visitor sections A and AA, and then a few scattered), so I am very glad Wyoming fans grabbed up all the tickets and sold to other Wyoming fans.

Also, the first half of the game from my perspective in the student section it was very loud. Obviously as texas pulled away in the second half the crowd noise died down. But the first half of the game I think was the loudest game I have been at in the War. I also had taped the game, and rewatched a little bit of the first half on the tape afterwards, and it certaintly sounded loud on the tv. What did other people think of the noise from other areas of the stadium?

Either way I am proud of our fans for filling the stadium, making it a great game-day atmosphere, and I had a lot of fun. Now lets BEAT THE HELL OUTTA cu

I was in the middle of the student section at the 50 yard line and it was absolutely insane. At the point we blocked the punt it was the loudest I've ever heard it. Throughout the first half it was loud like you said- but obviously diminished a little as they started to pull away. I too was trying to find the 10,000 texas fans that some Horns fans claimed would "take over" the stadium. (Also some fans saying students and fans would leave at half) Obviously that didn't happen and I was glad people stayed the whole game..for the most part. It was a great setting. Most of the Horns fans were also really good and helped make it a great atmosphere. However driving after the game they tried to taunt while I was driving- always a few.

There were also a group of fans that dictated where and when they wanted to cross the street by putting their hands up as if they were policemen controlling traffic. That was about the most arrogant thing I had seen. DC also meant what he said with the students added on saying to WYO first down- They just stopped all-together. DC means business. There were still attempts to do it but it would end up being done 4 times by smaller groups of students rather than all at once.

I can only think of what would have occurred if HCDC had a couple years in this program and THEN we had Texas at home. We are headed in the right direction.

I saw an interview with Colt where he said it was extremely loud for only 30,000.
I thought it was a great game, and a great experience for all. I met only classy fans from Texas. So I wish them the best. Now, can we continue to get great support for the team? You get a few games like this and people start to remember how much fun it can be at the War, and they start to come back on a regula basis.

Now that it is over, I can say all the Texas fans I talked to were quite nice. I will also say Colt McCoy is more athletic than probably any other QB we will face this season, so the missed tackles were not a fluke he does that to everyone. I surely hope Texas goes undefeated the rest of the season and never trails in another game, if so, broadcasters will talk about how the last time Texas trailed was at WYOMING. 1st half was a blast but its over, we need to move on and win some games.

This weekend has done nothing but given me more confidence in my Pokes. The CSU win last week doesn't look as good now that CU looked horrible vs Toledo, and since they were lucky to come from behind on Weber St. I really think Weber St has looked better than CU at this point. We have to play well, but both games look even more winnable now. Utah, AFA and UNLV look beatable, of course NM and SDSU look beatable as well. I don't like getting too optimistic because of past, but damn. We just need to focus on beating CU. Beat CU and things are ok. Lose, and maybe not.

All in all, it was a good time. A few of the people I sat near were douches, but you'll find that everywhere.

Question about the attendance numbers, though. If the stadium holds 32,000+, and the game was sold out, why was the announced crowd only ~31,000? I realize the last couple of rows on the east side upper deck weren't being used due to construction, but the endzone stands arent normally used either so that should have added a to the number. Exactly how many rows on the east side are unusable right now?
