Pokes win WWC tournament

Sending six to Philadelphia for the NCAA championships. Congrats to M. Martinez, Dallaserra, Onufer, P. Martinez, LeBlanc, and Helbig! They were down a couple points to UNI going into the finals then won by 6. Great effort by the Cowboys. LeBlanc made one critical mistake that cost him the match, and ended up 2nd, but will receive a at-large invite to the NCAAs.
 
For anyone familiar with the program, do they receive the $upport necessary to maintain a top 25 wrestling program? It seems to me that the athletic department needs to make sure the programs that are doing well stay that way.
 
Very good day for Wyoming Wrestling! Qualifying 6 for nationals!

Only downsides were Tyler Cox going 0-2 and neither very close and LeBlanc's stunning loss in the finals. LeBlanc did come back strong and guarantee his trip to nationals by winning the true 2nd match (altho he would have been chosen as an at large no matter how he did).

This team should finish top 20 and could easily finish top 15!!
 
LeBlanc's match wasn't that stunning.. him and Loder wrestled close in the dual a few weeks ago. LeBlanc made one very bad mistake which allowed Loder a reversal then Joe got hosed on an escape which would have tied the match. Loder's a good wrestler, if they meet again I'm confident Joe would beat him.

Giving Loder a point for a false start did not help LeBlanc's chances either.
 
By the way, HOLY SHIT. VonOhlen from Air Force winning by tech fall in the 1st period, 16-0. JEEZ!!! He had time to spare too! I've never seen someone OWNED so badly in a finals match before..
 
I love this result.

Wrestling is a great sport, and it's a fanstastic thing that UW chose to keep it when everyone else in the MWC (except AFA) dropped it.
