Pokes Unis

I love the new design for the shirts, but the brown needs to be darkened.

White pants at home would look sick. yellow or gold should just be used as an accent color.

While I agree that it looks good (especially if we have the wide brown & gold stripes) we've been snake bit for years playing with white pants. Call me superstitious, but I'm totally fine with gold pants.

How can you not want the gold pants? To the casual observer they might look ugly as sin, but if your a real Pokes fan you know that's the jam! We can't run from our funky ass school colors. We need to embrace them. You may be too young to remember when we didn't even have our gold pants. They took them from us replacing them with the monstrosity that was prairie gold. I mean just look at those...FUCKIN AWEFUL (including some truly dreadful years of sport)

Dark, DARK, DARK days those were........... :shit:

May the true gold pants reign at home until the end of days :king:

Penguins use a version of prairie gold and I've never once heard of it as ugly. Then again, they also have black and white in the Uni. Bohl better start winning with the classic colors or I'm with wyo1016 and we'll need to go full Oregon on our Scheme

My personal tastes are gold pants at home and white pants on the road. I know people talk about superstitions with wearing white pants but I don't go along with that. If we couldn't wear anything that we got our ass beat in we would be playing naked. If the jersey and pants have the right stripes/accents the white top, white pants is such a great clean looking combo. I've never been a big fan of white top gold pants.

Yeah that white/yellow look isn't my fav either. The current combo looks like a throwback to the 80's/90's a little. I just don't like Wyo using white as a primary color in general (all sports). There are options I suppose. Still I'd rather just flip it, go gold top and brown pants. Just stick with the funk.

We haven't even played a down in these new uniforms and we've already started a thread asking for new ones

I've started to care less and less regarding color schemes/designs as I've gotten older. Not saying we should stop trying to innovate and change (we're still recruiting 18 year old kids who love all of it) but it matters less to me as time goes on.

The thing I've wished to see more and more over this time is having names on the backs of jerseys again. Maybe this also has to do with me getting older ;) , but it's hard to keep up with the new faces on our team, guys changing their numbers (Hill), and guys changing their appearance (Hill/Granderson).

Agreed. I was just weighing in on the combo conversation. I actually really like the current uniforms. But I don't really care very littleabout the uniforms we wear. Just have a few small opinions. I completely agree about names on the jerseys. I understand the thought process behind it but like you said I have a hard time keeping up with everyones number. In basketball I like the look of the jerseys without names cuz there are fewer players and you can see faces to recognize them but football it is hard.

I'm all for names on the jersey, all sports. Why not? These kids aren't getting paid. Why not let them market their names and let people know who they are. Your guys argument for just letting the fans know who everyone is very valid as well. It's so easy to not remember just the numbers. I think it's dumb to have the attitude of your a team and part of the University blah blah. Teams are teams because they play like a team. Names on the back aren't gonna hurt that. Athletes also have egos and always have (some bigger then others). Shit how can we be any worse of a team anyway???? Wait......we've seen that can happen I'll take that back.

I just think people do not realize how much uniforms matter to young men. I do not mind our colors being brown and gold, but the home unis are ugly as shit. :) A lot of young recruits look at facilities, uniforms, colors, as part of their decision. I just think the pokes look really really ugly at home with the color combinations. the road we are fine with any color of pants, but we look horrendous at home. I have been a poke fan all my life and even when I was young I could not stand the home uniforms. I just can't believe I am in the minority on this. Winning solves everything. NDSU has ugly unis and they win, so I guess it truly doesn't matter if the pokes start to win.

Exactly. I wonder how the NDSU players felt wearing their ugly ass uniforms while winning national championships. I'll wear freakin pink if that's what it takes.

Amen. I want to see some winning already.

Dave Christensen was a crappy coach but he did the uniform thing right. I wish Bohl wasn't so simple with his approach to uniforms.

Please don't take this personally Cornpoke, et al, but screw NDSU. Why do we continually see Wyoming comparisons to NDSU (other than the obvious, we employ their former HC)?

Fact of the matter is that NDSU is in a lower division, and the talent pool in that division is much deeper for their level of competition. And they win at that level, so good for them. They don't need to pull out all the stops that Wyoming does (in order for Wyoming to be competitive).
