Pokes to the NBA

Out of this current roster of Cowboys, who do you think has the best chance at going to the NBA?

I say Leonard as an SF or or Nance.

Leonard has the most potential. He is actually a beast and very athletic. Seems like he could score or get an assist on every play if they would run isolations for him on the wing.

Nance has potential also but I want to see more of him and see how he improves from his freshman to sophomore years.

Personally, I don't think Leonard is a good fit for the NBA at all. His game is most consistent with that of a PF, and he would be ridiculously undersized to play the PF position in the NBA. He has good athleticism, but not the elite level of athleticism that is required to play the SF position in the NBA.

Don't get me wrong, I love having Leonard on our team. He is a very good college basketball player. However, college basketball and the NBA are two different beasts.

If I had to make a way too early prediction, then I would say Nance Jr.

Nance will have the opportunity to make a D league team and prove he can play if not straight to the NBA which I think Washington and Nance both will make it.

Nance is a sophomore. If he's scoring 25 a game by senior year and weighs much more, he'll be gold. Has a Garnett build

Think he can be putting up 25 a game by then?

I would bet if he is putting up 25 a game, he will be getting a lot of rebounds as well. Probably making a national player o the year canidate yeah?

My point is that he won't be going to the NBA unless he's putting up 20-25 per game by his senior year. He has the size and pedigree to dominate this conference. The best players from Wyo barely ever go to the NBA so A. He has to be the best Wyoming player in years and B. Put up great numbers in a decent conference.

I guess if he becomes some type of rebounding machine he can make it but he could be a scorer.

I got you. I'm just wondering do you think if he was puttin up 25 points with 10 boards a game, even if 6 of those points and 3 of those rebounds were "garbage points/boards" from his own misses, think he would be a MWC or even National player of the year canidate?

If he makes the NBA it will be for defense, rebounding, hustle. Think Joakim Noah - that's the mold for his pro future.

It's so hard to tell right now. Hes only a sophomore and developed late. Lebron looked like a 30 yr old man out of high school. Larry just grew a pile and I've heard he's 6'10" now?? or 6'11"? It will take time for him to learn how to use those arms and legs. Think baby giraffe that's just been born. I think he will still be a bit awkward this year but come his jr and sr year, we should really see him develop into a great basketball player.

Nance will benefit from having a name. If he is a 20 pts per game, 10 rebounds and 4 blk kind of guy, he will be in the running for a conference award.
