Looks like this may actually be nearly a done deal. Patterson to Kansas St. for $2 mil/yr according to TV stations in Manhattan.
 
If a team wants to fire a coach mid-season that's fine, but its rediculous that the NCAA allows coach's to be hired before the end of the season. If this is true basically TCU's season just got flushed down the toilet for no good reason. IMO the NCAA should have a moratorium on coaching hires between the time the first D1 game kicks off in August and when the last regular season game ends.
 
It looks like everyone is back-tracking and denying this has happened. But if it did, it sure shows some classlessness on Patterson's part. I'm not sure i agree wtih you that hiring should be prohibited before the end of the season, but I think people should show some better class. Its one thing to announce that a coach will not be coming back after the end of the year. In fact I think that such an announcement is probably better than waiting until the end. But announcing the hiring of a coach that is currently still coaching another team is pretty crappy.
