The domain they want Pac12.com is off the market and so is Pac12.org (a dedication to Tupac), they may have to use Pac12.info or something like that. Anyone want o make a fortune go register everything you can that has to do with the Pac 12.

Unless you have a legit reason to register such a domain, PAC 12 can get it for free from you. You'll get a nice Cease and Desist letter from their lawyers, and they WILL win in court, with you paying all their fees.

Internet domain laws have changed a ton in the past few years to prevent exactly what you talk about above, so I wouldn't try it unless you have a good idea about what to fill the site with.

I don't plan on doing it, never have just threw out the idea after reading the articke.

The Pac 12 can still get the domain but it will not be easy and even if they get it for free in the end it may cost them millions trying, even if not millions if one wants to fight any it could cost more than the Pac 12 just looking for a different domain.

It actually won't cost them more than $50 at the most. I can guarantee that their lawyers already have sample C&D letters written up. The $50 is for the lawyer to take 3 minutes to change the words in the sample.

Having been on the receiving end of a C&D, I know quite a bit about it and how you really want to avoid it if you can.
