He may be the most highly touted recruit ever to come to University of Wyoming football.
But you wouldn’t know it by talking with Kellen Overstreet.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound true freshman running back from Penney High in Hamilton, Missouri, is humble and soft-spoken.
Yes, he is the first Parade High School All-American to ever sign with the Cowboys. He was second in the nation last year with 4,259 yards as a senior, the fourth-best rushing season in the country all-time.
But Overstreet says he knew the day he set foot in Laramie this summer that all that meant nothing. For the last 10 days he is just another guy trying to survive the grind that is fall camp.
“Being the first (Parade All-American at UW) is pretty cool. But that doesn’t guarantee you a starting spot or anything like that,” Overstreet said.
