Our starting QB gets high praise from CDC

Do not know if anyone else saw the MT West Report on the Mountain Channel last night but Bill from the MT and CDC had awesome praise for our true freshman QB Brett Smith:

CDC: He is a very intelligent kid and picked up the offense much faster than we anticipated and seperated himself from the others early. He is a much better QB than he was after 15 practices in the Spring. From a leadership standpoint, he may be the best true leader who is a true freshman that I have ever been around" (think Chase Daniel, and a young Blaine Gabbert).

"Everything he does is a 100 MPH and he challenges himself to not let anyone outwork him on a daily basis. He is a perfect fit for what we want to do offensively and has a better surrounding cast and all of it presents a more realistic picture of what I envisioned when I took the job 3 years ago."

I know he is no ACS, or Adam Pittser, who to some, will be one of the greatest QB's in the history of Wyo football, but he sounds like a kid I could get excited about leading the way through the next 4 years. Go Pokes!

Well said - all the way around! :thumb:

Not only did Brett get 15 more practices than the others but he got the summer months to digest and practice the things he encountered in the spring. Time definitely was on his side.

Not all kids are mature enough to finish up high school early and get a head start going to college and it worked in his favor.

This is what separates the good ones from the great ones. :thumb:

At this point I'm beginning to think that Smith might be the better QB of the two recruits. Sure Pittser has the big time arm, but that doesn't necessarily translate to him being the better of the two.
Who knows what the future holds, but should be an exciting four or five years watching these two battle it out...that is if Pittser decideds to stick around.

Its still August. No conclusions can be drawn now. Its all talk until we actually play the games. For all we know, Smith goes out there are throws back-to-back INTs and Capt. Kirk takes over.

I remember 6 years ago Hawaii had a QB battle between Tyler Graunke and Colt Brennan. According to practice reports, Graunke looked more experienced due to being at UH longer than Brennan. The first team defense struggled against Graunke while Brennan looked shaky. Game 1 came up, Graunke crumbled and Brennan didn't. He went on to be one of the most efficient QBs in college football history.

Lets see the boys play first before drawing conclusions.
