OT: Maryland and Rutgers to the B1G?

And losing the New York (Rutgers), New England (UConn), Louisville, and Cincinatti markets would basically kill the any levrage the Least would have with any TV execs.

We should start writing congress and asking them to pull all federal funding to universities particpating in the BCS.

1.) They don't allow access to the national championship.

2.) They don't release information on how they assign rankings.

3.) The federal governement provides grants and tuition money to these institutions.

4.) We have an energy crisis? and all of a sudden these schools think its ok to fly all over the danged instead of staying close by and conserving resources.

Many more...

I'm actually surprised. I thought the $50 mil would stop any ACC schools from leaving (considering they have championship accesss and a decent TV deal already).

I find the last sentence of the article veeeeeeeeery interesting:

"Connecticut is the most likely candidate to join the ACC, sources said."

At this rate the Big East won't have any teams in it that were there 5 years ago, and nearly no eastern teams.

It's official. Announcement today. Rutgers poised to announce tomorrow. Louisville said to have requested a new meeting with Big XII this morning. No mention of Cincy yet.

ACC is in a fix. Big East in real trouble with their contract. Not sure how they can spin this?

Step closer to 16 team S conferences?

Sure would be nice to hear something from the MWC.

What can the MWC do? Invite Idaho which carries the Moscow, Idaho market (yeah, a real big market and very bad facilities and what not)? Invite New Mexico State which would only water down the New Mexico market?

Texas State wouldn't be too bad, but without an increase in TV dollars, it would only take money away from the rest of us unless we got a good increase in payout.

I'm not suggesting we add anyone. A simple update would be nice. Currently, it feels like the conference is on cruise control. Has anyone seen anything relating to the future?

Talk on all the radio stations here in the up state of SC is that Maryland has some sort of pull on the ACC... they are not going to pay the full 50 Million to get out.. No one can get a fix on what it is they have on the ACC, but will not pay the full price... also talk is that this may lead to others leaving the ACC... Louisville may be the front runner on the list to invite over instead of UCONN.. Louisville brings in a better over all product and better market from FB & BB.

According to some TCU fans, the ACC is about to be ripped part by the SEC, Big 12, and Big 10. Also that the remanants of the Least and ACC will merge with SUDS, SPUDS, Houston, and SMU getting off without any penalty what so ever.

And now UCF is having second thoughts about joining...

I kind of wish NDSU would get an invite to the MWC. They have a bigger fan base than several MWC teams and they have a football team who has proven they can beat FBS teams

It's not that simple. NDSU would have to add sports to make the move. Plus the whole moratorium on teams making the jump. There are plenty of teams in FCS that would be competitive in FBS, but there are many more issues involved than just the MWC extending an invite.
