I fucking hate this pussification of America bullshit. Touch football and everyone gets a trophy. FUCK YOU

I just don't get how one man has so much power. He enters as the commish of the NFL, and just gets to do whatever the hell he wants? Even the President still has to go through congress. Who does Goodell go through? Himself?

And you wonder why the players hate him. LOL

Hope they don't get rid of kickoffs.

You don't think the NFLPA suing the league for every post-concussion related incident has to do with it? If you want to call someone a pussy, it's the former and current players, not Goodell.

With that being said, the game is getting faster and stronger and helmets are not. Something has to change because the human brain is going to continue to be the human brain.

This. Personal accountability has gone completely out the window in the NFL. These players need to realize there is a reason they are making hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars a year: they are going to get hurt. It's the nature of the beast. If you don't want to get hurt, don't play. Simple as that.

Helmets starting being used to prevent skull fractures, which they do very well. There is no way for a helmet to protect your brain from smacking the inside of your skull due to violent collisions.

With all that being said, Goodell needs to go NOW. Football is a violent game. There is no such thing as "safe" football. Like I said before, you know the risks when you put on the pads. Do you think someone in the LAPD is suing their government for getting shot? No, because they knew what they were signing up for. The same should go for football. Stop pussying up the game!

But the LAPD takes every course of action they can to prevent their officers from getting shot. LAPD is there to protect the public, football is there for entertainment.

Concussions occur almost exclusively from helmet-to-helmet contact, and at high speeds. So what has the NFL done? Made helmet-to-helmet contact illegal and talking about eliminating the high speed train wreck that is the kick-off. It makes perfect sense from a business standpoint to protect your assets. Whether it's Goodell or someone else, a businessman will always protect his assets and reduce risk of lawsuit.

I'm still an advocate of getting rid of helmets altogether. They are THE definition of a false sense of security.

I would say there are as many concussions from helmet to ground contact as helmet to helmet. But your other statement I agree with. Safety equipment has advanced leaps and bounds. But there is only so much it can do. Players feel empowered and protected to slam full speed into each other. Want to make the game safer? Take away the helmets. A young man in his early 20's, trying to make millions of dollars right now doesnt really think about long term effects. But if he knows he might get his skull cracked right now, he'll slow down.

They still prevent skull fractures, which were a HUGE concern in the early days of the NFL. Busting open your melon will kill you immediately. Helmets are still necessary, no matter how much it makes players feel like Superman.

Yes and no. Rugby and Australian rules don't wear helmets and they are also full contact. Skull fractures rare.

How about you keep the helmet, but lose the facemask? No one ever died from a broken nose
