DISCLAIMER: I got permission to post this here so, those of you who normally complain about these things can kiss my ass! Also, this isn't a 'look at me' post so, disabuse yourself of that notion.

I just wanted to put this out there because, I know there are many sportsmen on this site who like their guns, whiskey, and hot women in little bikinis (or, hot men in man thongs...for Alyssa and Snowflake).

I founded this non-profit a few years ago after I had returned from Africa. I was sitting on my ass at DIA and started going downtown in DC with the metro police and began working with some of the homeless vets. Well, things got rolling and we ended up expanding our work to encompass many Veteran's issues. I have no idea where it will go but, this shooting competition (info below) seems to have legs and we are planning a full thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail for vets in 2014.

2nd Annual Wounded Warrior Marksmanship Competition, at Peacemaker National Training Center, Gerrardstown, WV 7-8 October 2012.

15 Wounded Warriors (VETs and Active Duty) will compete in Shotgun, Handgun, and Long Gun events. Top prize is 2,000.00 and a commemorative .45 CAL Colt 1911. 2nd Prize is 1,500.00 and 3rd Prize is 1,000.00. Thanks to generous support of many local businesses in Winchester, VA, we are able to fully fund this event for the Warriors and their families. This year we have 13 Army and 2 Marine shooters. This is an NRA sanctioned event.

The folks at Gunwerks http://www.gunwerks.com/ will be there supporting the 600yd Long Gun course. It will be filmed for a future episode of Long Range Pursuit http://www.longrangepursuit.com/ and I will revive this thread when I find out from the Producer when it will air on the Sportsman Channel.

Next year, we expect to see an increase in funding for this event. If you know of a Wounded Warrior (physically disabled or emotionally disabled). Please get them in touch with me at: [email protected] It would be nice to have a fellow Wyomingite around all these inbreds in Northern Virginia!

2012 Match is in the books!

Congrats to this year's winners:

1st Place: Jason Asbury, US Army, Virginia
$2,000.00 and a commemorative Colt .45
(Back Row Right)

2nd Place: Danny Ruck, US Marines, Ohio
$1,500.00
(Front Row, 2nd from the Left)

3rd Place: Adam Welch, US Army, Maryland
$1,000.00
(Back Row, 4th from the Right)

FYI folks, the Gunwerks guys are based out of Cody (well, Burlington actually) and they were a treat. Two minor character flaws: One was a USU Aggie and the other was from that school in Provo.

I signed the releases yesterday so the episode should come out soon.

Note to Sportsmen, if you have an extra 10K sitting around, the Gunwerks LR1000 is a quality piece of weaponry!
