One thing we saw that has been lacking....

We are piling on the offense for their play this year (me included) but one thing we saw this game was the receivers catching the ball. I didn't see any drops.

They may have had a hard time getting open but Allen was zipping those passes in and the guys were hanging on. This is a big improvement from the first of the year.

Hopefully it can become a strength next year.

I still think our O problems were more to do with run blocking and running back play more than it was playcalling. Our O has to run the ball to be effective. You can’t play action as effective when you’re not running and you can’t run flea flickers every play. We’d be amazed how much better we would look with a 1-2 more yards per rush

i think its an issue that the coaching staff has yet to realize that kellen overstreet is by far their best RB, no offense to Trey Woods. Kellen should be getting 75% of the carries with other RBs rotating in, not the other way around.

Woods, I think, would be a solid addition to the receiving corps. Good size, speed, and hands. But a RB he is not.

Woods does not keep his feet moving and looks to lack enough power to stay up after contact. I’m not saying he can’t be good but perhaps he should play somewhere else. The staff obviously saw something in Milo but I think a lot of our poor rushing attack was the line. The line either got better and/or overstreet was more of an answer. Still needs to get a lot better

Met a nice family of one of CMU's players at the hotel in Boise. Had a good chat with them before and after the game. One of their comments after was how good our receivers were, and I really didn't know how to respond to that. There were some great grabs in this game, but brings to mind the Iowa game in particular where those same plays ended with drops. That experience and improvement with some promising commitments hopefully makes it easier for Josh Allen's replacement, but still missing that Gentry type safety blanket to throw it up and make a play.

Don't want to put too much on his shoulders, but can't wait to see what he can do!

The touchdown that CJ Johnson caught was a very similar play to the one he dropped at Iowa. Same spot on the field exactly. It was plays like that drop that killed our down and distance all year and put us in predictable situations. Josh Allen had so many receivers drop passes and had to throw so many away. His completion percentage wasn't always his fault....
