Reality check here. Lets not pack our bags and give up . Tough schedule coming up and the last thing we need is a bunch of fans turning on the team. We've come a long way, but we still have a long way to go.
I don't want a pissing match the next two weeks about how terrible we are.

Lets just take it in stride and move forward. Not much else to say after a game like that.

Its two steps forward, one step back, was going to be like that all year.

This loss may be a blessing in disguise. I think our team learned a lot from it, and there's going to be a LOT of embarrassment for the o-line during the tape watching, so they won't be this bad again, even when we're facing other defensively good teams.

Also, I think ACS probably learned a bunch from this. He'll have some tape to watch where he'll see what he's doing wrong on all those blitz packages. Hopefully we'll make sure to have an EASY outlet pass in the future rather than letting the back get covered tightly.

The defense has to feel good too. They looked absolutely awesome until they were too worn out to stop things.

Wrong, this line is an embarrassment beyond words for me right now. Unbelievable. You think this game was bad against a good highschool-size line....wait till we play UTAH in 2 weeks. We'll be talking about this same thing then... :brick:

-I expected the offense to struggle. Not this bad though. I'm not packing it in, I still believe this team will win 2 more games. This was the first real defensive test for ACS and remember he is a true freshman.

-One concern I did have was play calling. Why not throw a pass on first down once in awhile, especially with Leonard to get 5 or 6 yards. A couple of years ago our offense was so predictable because we always ran on first down, lets not go there again.

-The defense played well, but not as good as some are making it out to be. The defense really had to make a stand in the 2nd half...and they just let AF continue to grind out first downs. How many 3rd down conversions did AF have in the 2nd half?

-Overall, very disappointing loss in a very winnable game. I think this game lights a fire under ACS and the offense and we rebound well. Execution definitely needs to improve.

Why do you think Utah's defense will be better than Air Force's? Air Force's defense ranks even better than TCU's...

Utah's defense has better athletes, but I highly doubt they execute as well as AF. AF really really impressed me today on the defensive side of the ball.

Not to mention that ACS having seen so many blitz packages and having an extra week to prepare for the next game, is likely to know what to do better next time.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think we'll pull off the upset vs Utah, but I definitely believe our offense will do better than they did today.

We rebounded well after CU. Lets see how we rebound after this. We don't have the luxury of playing UNLV and New Mexico again, but hopefully we can get better from this like we did after CU.

Well figuratively speaking you can't do worse than 0. But I would be surprised if we don't put up 20 next week.

IDC what you say we shouldve won this game penalties everytime something was moving and a touchdown to stewart but he was runnnig out of bounds WTF!!!!

I didn't get Stewart's catch out of bounds either. Instead of jumping for it, he stepped out of bounds and caught it standing outside the lines, pretty much. Guess he expected an easier catch, though... it wasn't a perfectly thrown ball, that's for sure.

if the pass is in bounds it is a touchdown, stewart probably never even thought that ACS would throw it that close to out of bounds with no pressure on the throw, and stewart was moved to RB for a reason, meaning expecting him to make an weird jumping catch on the sidelines when he is wide open isn't reasonable. I doubt any of our WR make that catch in bounds, it was just a bad pass.

Stewart was wide wide open. Was there and may not have seen this on the replay, but ACS throws the duck since he's so wide open, stewart looks down and you could tell he knew he was heading out of bounds. Went ahead and caught it anyway, but with it coming in so high, there was no way for him to catch it in bounds. Bad pass. The int was off a bad pass too. Reciever was way open but ACS threw it way too high. With the pressure, he just wasn't in a groove. The feeling there was that UW would score before the half as they'd really had their way with AF. The penalties killed every drive. Second half was all AFA. They really shut everything down. Also, on the punts, they were way high and our returner didn't move back for any of them. Would have been a crap shoot as to what the ball does, but I bet it would have taken a nice high bounce off the artificial turf and easily been downed inside the 5. Grass field, maybe you try and let it go and see what happens.

UW tends to run the same trap run play on every first down. AFA also ran the fullback dive on nearly every first down. Must be the trendy thing to do to set teams up for something later.

Not really sure why you're saying there was no way for him to catch it in bounds... he would've had to jump for it, but not THAT much. I think the problem was mostly that he wasn't prepared for it.

not to beat a dead horse, but i did go back and look at it. It appears he caught it waist/chest high and he could have caught it above his head or jumped and got his feet in bounds, but I doubt he could have stayed in bounds to walk into the endzone. same pass 2 yards in and he walks in for the TD. After looking at it, both players could have made a better play, good stuff to learn from.

It is disappointing the Srs will graduate without ever knowing what it is like to beat AFA. That should not ever be the case. These guys have beaten every other team in the MWC already except for BYU, maybe we get that one at home. 2 weeks to prep for Utah, hope DC and staff come up with a killer game plan!
