Well...three weeks ago destiny called on this Cowboy team and they blinked...hard. Controlling their own destiny down the stretch was evidently too much pressure on this group. It is really hard to have the target on your back and these guys found that out. BSU, SDSU, and CSU all stepped it up down the stretch. Wyoming is heading the other direction. We will finish fourth but I think UNLV is better than us right now. The odds of an at-large bid are pretty much non-existent at this point as well. *sigh* I guess I'll get stoked for an NIT run if it happens...the let downs as a pokes fan are rough.

Ironically..I felt like we were not as good as our record at the start of conference play. I posted that I thought that we were not as good as the three teams that are ahead of us currently. As the season wore on I was pleasantly surprised and genuinely thought they had something figured out but it turns out we were the ones who got "figured out".
Seems like we won games at the end but may have not taken any learning tool from those wins. Linder cost us this game tonight by going away from things that were working , Maldo was feeling it and Ike was holding his own, but a quiet X and Jefferies weren't the answer, JO was trying, but why didn't he put more faith in Thompson to create more and that something different for a change? NO EXCUSES, we can't let a Fresno, CA Bulldog team come into 7220 and beat us. We need a balls to the wall bullying of the Bulldogs, go into the MWC tourney knowing its all in front of us and we play our way to a tournament championship and on to San Diego for NCAAs, but a NIT run would be fun too!!! Cmon Pokes regroup, refocus and play our game and we should be fine, lotta ball left!!!

Fair enough. I think we out performed our talent level this year. Linder put us in good situations, and players worked hard and bought in. Our defense improved drastically from last year. Now we're the team nobody wants to play in the tournament. I'll take it.

Agree. Going from ranked 22 to likely out of the tourney is disappointing. It’s possible to be disappointed and ok overall with the season and direction of the program307bball said:

I think if we miss the NCAA tournament and you asked the players are they disappointed to miss the tournament that every single one will be, even though in any public interviews everyone will say they are excited for the NIT.

Agreed we were being projected as high as a 7 seed just 14 or so days ago. If we go from a 7 seed to missing the tournament, I will definitely be disappointed and I think the team will be too. I don't think any of them are saying "oh well we lost, we over achieved anyway this year."
