...except in football. They'll move all of their sports to the ACC except football, but football will play 5 games against the ACC every year. ACC also increased their buy-out to $50 million.

Interesting move. Big Ten woulda made move sense except they would want the Irish football team in as well. Wonder if the ACC will grab any more Big East schools soon.

I predict in 8-10 years Notre Dame's football team will join the ACC.

ND citing difficulty of scheduling as reason for leaving. BYU will be in the Big East western division by next July. Bank on it.

My biggest fear as a pokes fan is that Another western conference will be formed with bits from several conferences and Wyoming gets left out... I think that is more likely then BYU joining the Big East, only because I have a feeling the Big East is a sinking ship.

There is a pecking order in realignment now.....the Big East will just continue to poach off the MWC until its practically a western conference. The MWC will poach off of the WAC/Big Sky, etc....conference realignment is definitely hurting a lot of schools and conferences. Wyoming could definitely be screwed in the coming years. Its all about T.V. revenue now.

not convinced that is true... I think without ND, and with other Big East schools looking for the first chance to bolt... I think the Big East is losing leverage.

Leverage is money, not prestige. And the Big East is projected to have a T.V. contract netting non-football schools $11-$13 million in revenue, all sport teams $15-$17 million. The MWC is barely getting each school $1 in revenue. The MWC is the sinking ship, and the Big East will be poaching off it soon. If Louisville, Cincinnati, etc. ever leave of course....Just the reality of the situation.

Those numbers were being thrown around with ND. I would have to think that the contract may be significantly devalued without ND.

Still, I dont think this moves helps us and creates more potential of the Big East taking schools such as Air Force, Fresno and maybe UNLV.

doubt that.....pretty sure the tail (bsu) will be wagging the dog by then and will be asking for some more western competition

and their invite to sdsu proves that the big east cares absolutely ZERO about prestige or history

They brought along SUDS so BSU would have the Cali market for recruiting and so that BSU would not be completely by themselves out West.
