No Josh Adams for NM on Wednesday

I guess the league opted to suspend him for that game.

Trey Washington, you need to have a career game!

Washington should definitely get the start. Grabau is more a shooting guard than a point guard, so it makes sense to have the closest thing to a true point guard on our roster starting.

If Washington doesn't get the start my vote is for Granberry. He'd fit nicely in the starting lineup at the 3 spot.

Who knows what Duncan will do. But if Shyatt were coaching, I thing that Hankerson would get the start. Granberry would sub for Cooke. Washington for Hankerson. Will be interesting, but most likely a loss even with Adams.

Grabau is a true point guard.
Takes care of the ball, and scores when needed. He is no Josh Adams who creates plays at the 2.

a tuff place to play just got even harder, we'll see, is Kirk still on the shelf for awhile? that'll help just a bit

I would argue that they are both 2 guards, just different types. Grabau's handles aren't where a point guard's should be, which is why I call him a 2. As far as assist/turnover ratio goes, though, he's a 1 all day.

Adams is now going to be a target cuz other teams know that he is a hot head and can be messed with. They'll send in some bench guy to try to push him over the edge.

By the way, whats with this flopping thing we seem to be doing? It's getting ridiculous and I think it works against us because the refs don't respond to it after a while. Looks weird as hell when one of our players is flopped out on the floor and his man is going down the floor for a lay up.

All I have to say, is that if you're going to take a shot at a guy and get suspended, do it for real like Jon Summers did BITD.

since you said Kirk's back that's a true tall test for our team, I really don't see any chance at all...hope I'm wrong

I agree, but ya never know in college hoops.

I think they can beat UNLV in Vegas though. And SDSU at home.

Realistically, I don't think the Pokes win any of their next 3 games. All three teams they will be facing have far superior talent and two of the games are on the road. Keep in mind, we have struggled mightly against teams less talented than us on the road this year. Yes, we did beat BSU on the road. The team deserves credit for gutting out that win, but BSU played one of their worst games of the season that night. The Cowboys played a part in them performing poorly, but they were just having an off night as well.

Even though SDSU is easily the best team in the MWC this season, I think that is our best shot at picking up a win in the next three games...mainly because it is in the AA. If I had to put a percentage on liklihood to win each game, I would say:

15% @ UNM
20% @ UNLV
25% vs SDSU

That's one win in every four games played at the AA against SDSU. Is next Wednesday that one game? You never know!

I like our chances at UNLV. Yes they have talent, but they lack in the coaching area (home losses to AFA and Nevada). My realistic prediction would be 1-2....but 2-1 could be achievable.

I like our chances against the Rebels as well. Any team with Heath Burman Schroyer on the staff has issues. We match with them well IMO.

USU took SDSU to OT and we crushed USU.... So I'm not sure what you are getting at since we play SDSU at home I think we have a better chance of beating them.

UNLV got beat by Nevada and AFA at home and we beat both of those teams as well.

UNM lost to UNLV @ the Pit so we have just as much chance to win all 3 of these games coming up as anyone else does. I think if we play good Basketball we could go 3-0.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I think we will go 3-0 I'm just saying with good play we definitely could.

The transitive property has proven to fail time and time again when applied to sports.

Could we go 3-0? Sure. Hence the reason I didn't predict our chances of winning at 0%. The bottom line is that each of the teams we are facing in the next 3 games are better basketball teams than we are. You can use mental gymnastics all you want to convince yourself that we should (or will) win any number of the next 3 games. However, an objective assessment is going to tell a different story.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. I don't show any math that says all 3 teams will beat us, I show more suggesting they will be down to the wire games that will be won in the last 2 mins of play.

Looks like the oddsmakers in Vegas disagree with you too. Pokes opened as 10.5 point underdogs @ UNM. I know. I know...those odds are set to encourage the most betting possible, but they are still a fairly good indicator of what the average outcome of the game would be if played multiple times. The good news for the underdog is that the game is only played once, and as you have eluded to, anything can happen in a single game.

I'm not going to be disappointed if the Pokes come out of this stretch 0-3. Frustrated? Yes, but not disappointed. I think a lot of posters have unrealistic expectations for this team and end up getting very down on the team when they don't meet those expectations. In my opinion, any win in these next 3 games should be viewed as a huge accomplishment for this team and is something to be applauded, not expected. I hope one day we get to the point where we can realistically expect to walk into The Pit or T&M and leave with a win, but we certainly aren't there at this point.

I'll be watching and supporting the team as best I can from New England. Go Pokes!
