Dino desperately wants Wyo to be a BCS busting bad ass team, like I do, but for different reasons.
I want to, because I have unrealistic expectations (even though some people think I strive for NM Bowl year after year haha) and he wants Wyo to be that team, so when they get insanely popular, are in the Big12, and a perennial title contender, he can be the "first" sports guy to start toting the Pokes. He wants to be the one that says "back off, I was here first".
I really think Dino picked Wyo as a bold business decision.
I mean, obviously you don't want to pick a BCS team, they already have big vocal fanbases.
And you don't want Boise, they already have their circus.
What's more ......romantic? majestic? I don't know the right word...appealing maybe? MAC teams or MWC teams?
Easily the MWC, as we have had multiple BCS Bowl winners.
Out of these MWC teams, Wyo has the most appealing lifestyle that goes with it.
Wyoming Cowboy, cowboy tough, ranching, being a blue collar hard bad ass.
CSU Ram, yuppie Fort Collins, CU's little brother.
New Mexico, breaking bad.
