Well.....looking at this realistically, you'd want Brett to play for a team that runs somewhat of a spread offense. Smith does not have a cannon arm, he can't play for a team that plays old man football. It doesn't fit his strengths and he would fail. Then he would need to be on a team that has not already invested in another QB. No San Francisco or Carolina or Washington or any team that already has their young QB for the future.

These are the teams I think Smith could thrive with.

Buffalo - Not sold on EJ Manuel....Spiller is a big time RB....the Bills are setting a nice foundation on offense.
Dallas - All the weapons needed....just need a QB.
Green Bay - Wait it out.....take over when Rodgers is done.
Pittsburgh - See GB, insert Big Ben.
NY Jets - LOL No I'm just kidding
Detroit - Unreal talent at WR, people are getting skeptical of Stafford. How do you not succeed with what they have?
Cleveland - Terrible franchise desperate for a QB with balls.
Houston - See Detroit.

If I had to pick one, I'd say Houston is his best bet. Schaub is on borrowed time, and that team is as loaded as anyone in the NFL.

But of course this is all hypothetical.....as we are getting WAAAAY ahead of ourselves.

J-Rod don't over-think this.
This is the ultimate "what if".
This poll is just to see where wyonation people would want to see Smith turn into the most elite NFL qb.

I voted for Dallas, but that's because I've always been a Dallas fan and they need a QB that can be consistent. I don't mind Romo, but he's incredibly frustrating to watch, especially when he starts improvising.

But I think Denver would actually be a better fit for Smith. And living in the Denver area, I actually would want to watch the Broncos then. Manning is signed through 2016,and he will hopefully make it that long. So, Smith gets picked up in 2015 draft or free agency and has at least a year (hopefully two) to learn under Manning. Then he gets to take over the offense that will be in place, which will have to be pretty good to support Manning's style. And I think Brett could have a field day in that type of offense with the weapons he would have then. Smith has got to be on Denver's radar being relatively local, and it would be great to keep him close to Laramie to build the program.

I'd like to see Denver for Smith, but as long as he's playing on Sundays, I'll be happy for him.

GO POKES!

Dallas???? Did you see the contract they just gave romo? they will be getting a new coach before they make a quarterback change. They may draft a qb... but that would be a horrible situation for brett. it would be controversial. No thanks on that, not saying it wouldn't happen... I just don't want him entering into that team with romo as his tutor.

A better fit would be New Orleans. brees would be a much better tutor for brett.

Arizona will need a qb. carson palmer is old. No viable backup

Chicago will need a qb. Cutler is hurt every year, with no viable back up

Oakland...??? not sure. Flynn was just brought in. plus they have that kid from ohio state during the scandal.

ravens, nope. flacco huge contract

tampa... maybe. nobody stands out as a front runner. the kid from Kansas is a big arm and body. but nobody is drafting him on fantasy leagues.

Miami. philbin probably would draft another qb if it reminded him of aaron rogers. so I think brett has a chance there.

Pittsburg. I agree here... I hate the steelers, but they are a fit. Big ben needs a back up, and the organization personifies "tough". wouldn't surprise me.

Denver. Yes. John Elway will be exposed to brett smith more than any other exec over the next two years. Wouldn't surprise me if Elway comes to the wildcatter to watch him personally.

Minnesota. ponder will be at the end of his contract, so will cassel. If neither succeed, brett could wear the purple.

seattle. not my choice. Russel Wilson is going to sign a big contract.

Kansas city. Andy Reid is a good coach, something to keep an eye on. what is he going to build there?

san diego. good opportunity there. solid qb coaches.

Washington. Kirk Cousins will probably be traded after this season, there is value to trade as he can start somewhere, and shanahan will want some more draft choices. People keep an eye on this situation as well. we need to see if griffen holds up. but even if he does hold up, if cousins goes else where, they will be drafting a qb.

Detroit.... ehhhh, god I hope not.

Carolina.... ehhhh, god I hope not.

Jacksonville.... ehhhh, god I hope not. but they are always looking for qbs.

Saint Louis. Bradford is the last of the big contract rookies. Im not sure what to say here. I guess maybe but, I try to look at roster space and current contracts, they may have room, but I would prefer him to go elsewhere.

bills. im with j-rod on this, I don't like what they did in the draft. they will have a potent offense if they have the correct qb.

Yes Dallas. But that's purely for selfish reasons. Doesn't make any sense for the reasons you've highlighted, but I'd still like to see Smith take over there.

Your analysis is good, but I still think Denver is the best fit. Let's hope Denver agrees and we get to see Elway's mug in the Wildcatter in the next year or two.

GO POKES!

This is a ridiculous thread. Much has to happen before a thread like this is appropriate. How about a beat Nebraska thread instead?

Interesting side note about connections to a couple teams BSmith has.

1) Current Oakland Raider QB coach John DeFillipo was the San Jose St QB and OC in 2009/10 and was the reason BSmith initially committed to the Spartans when he was a senior. He is fully aware of what BSmith can do. Their QB situation is well-documented.

2) Minnesota OC and QB coach Bill Musgrave, was a fellow QB at Oregon along with Smith's Dad back in the 80's so the two know each other well. Jury is out on Ponder and needs a good year this year.

The bigger question that still remains is, whatever happened to Dino?
