You can reserve spots....nice.

If anyone here jumps on board, and pays to play, I would be interested to know what you thought of the "fee".

Interesting. I wonder who would pay for that...

5pm access the day before would be nice, except I wouldn't want to leave expensive items there to be stolen.

"We can't compete without proper funding."

"Yeah our AD sucks, he needs to come up with new fundraising ideas so we don't fall behind."

"A fee?! To reserve a tailgate spot?? Fuck that!"

Got a point there...

I'll still just see what's happening south of the stadium near the Cowboy Joe tent... I prefer to buy something and wander around before the game.

Well...seeing how I am a proponent for renovating the CJC seats in the war (B, C, D, E, etc.), decreasing seating by adding chairback seating, and putting a seat premium in place similar to the AA - all the while building a revenue center in the endzone (as discussed previously), I look at this as an unimaginative slight to current boosters.

There are ways to increase funding that doesn't come across as the CJC dry holing you. You didn't read the release too well. If a fan just gave, say $2500 (or hell even less), for his/her annual CJC donation (due by what date coincidentally?), thinking it would cover him/her for parking & tailgating at football games, that would now be incorrect. They need to come up with a new donation / parking fee, and essentially more $$ to make that happen.

As I mentioned before, if anyone here ponies up, I would be interested to hear what they think. Thank includes you backharlowroad, when are you making the upgrade?

EDIT: And by the way, this isn't anything new. When we were standing in dirt next to some tie posts, we bought our spots. They even had our names on them. And we coordinated who we wanted to park by & tailgate with. But that was part of the program then, and was disclosed, not hidden.

McPeachy,

I called CJC to verify after the article came out. The donation amounts to be in the reserved section of the stadium lots are not in addition to regular CJC donations. So if someone gives $1,500 for seats/annual donation they don't owe anything more, they already qualify for the tailgate area. There are limited number of spaces however.

I was just poking fun, lighten up.

Here is an idea. Take some of the teams out of season (track, basketball, etc) and put them out on the road during some games. For example, they could rent the Riverton Holiday Inn convention center, charge $40 bucks a person to come in and watch the game with the basketball team, drink beer, and eat. Outside of the ballrooms, they could have the kid friendly area (let kids in for or minimal cost of a meal).

I bet they could bring in quite a few extra bucks if they did that in some of the central areas around the state (Sheridan, Cody, Riverton, Pinedale/ etc). In fact, they could probably even extend that a bit to Fort Collins and Billings.

They could in turn give back some advertising for the hosted events at the game (eg halftime sign or whatever).

I bet people would love to not have to drive, get together with some cowboy fans, eat, drink, and occassionally see some teams show up that they could talk to.

Interesting, thanks for the info. This statement threw me off (and still kind of does):

"Regular Cowboy Joe Club donation amounts do apply to parking in the Ford Stadium Lot"

I like the spot I tailgate now just fine. I'm not much for roaming around. I like to sit and watch the early football games (which is why I prefer a later start time - more tailgate time)

Between nirv and my crew we've got a pretty sweet set up over in the Summit View lot

So if the reserved spots are on the south side of the IPF, it should make that entire area from Summit View, through the big wig parking lot and over to the IPF quite active.

I'm looking forward to the tailgate atmosphere this year. It should be fun.
