New Prez, and sports

So far the New President has said everything that you would expect...."We need to focus on creating a good environment for our students" type talk and the "I am proud to be here and we are gonna work hard"......ya know the same old crap.
One of the only things he has said about UW sports, was that we have a good tradition with our athletics, and that we have a good inter-mural sports and opprotunities, and that the recreation in the surrounding area are good for sports....

That is where I lost hope....
When asked about UW sports, he, and everyone else knows what the question really means..."are you gonna give 2 shits about the football team and the mens and womens basketball teams?"
And when the answer turns into "good tradition, inter-murals, and hiking and skiing in the Snowy Range" to me that means....no I don't really care.

I feel like he is gonna keep Tom Burman, not that I want Burman fired, but that, the sports program we have now is what we are gonna have for years and years to come. Unless DC and Shyatt noth turn into bad asses, ASAP.

This is just all my opinion...normally I am the optimistic one...
Any one else feel that the new president won't try and turn us into the sports program that us fans want?
Or has there been other info I have not heard that he does wanna turn us into a real program?

Thoughts?

Waaaaaay too early to pass judgment on the new President. Actions speak louder than words.....at the end of the day, University Presidents speak the same language as politicians (some of them are politicians).Nobody will be able to say anything about this guy for a year or two...Anyone expecting Burman to get canned right out of the gates is being totally unrealistic. Things are not THAT bad at Wyoming. Lets sit back wait and watch.....

While it was too early to cement an opinion about the guy, there is a difference between saying I wanna go hiking, versus, We are gonna win MWC championships/UW will step up to the plate.

And? The new Nevada AD promised they would be Top 25 in every sport.....despite CLEARLY being on the decline in football with Ault's departure. Confidence is great, but you know what's a good way to get fired? Make promises you can't keep.

He did say he is going to tour Wyoming asking people in towns what they want most out of the University and I for one will tell him with conviction (If I get the chance) that I want Mountain West Championships and post season play for all UW Sports.
