NEW MWC

I mentioned this in a thread on the football side of the forum but find this really interesting.

If SDSU, Boise, and BYU come back to the MWC look at our conference for hoops!

2 divisons probably.

Mtn:
AFA, CSU, WYO, NM, BYU, USU

West:
UNLV, Nevada, SDSU, Fresno, Boise, San Jose St.

We will be a freaking powerhouse in hoops.
Being the UW homer I obviously think that Shyatt will soon bring us to the UNLV-NM-SDSU level.
So I think that the Mtn Division could be one of the best in the country! WITH good rivalries!

I see us building a good rivalry with USU, and NM, and re-igniting the BYU rivalry.
and if CSU stays strong after the miles departure, 5 of 6 teams in our division would consistently be making the NCAA and NIT.
Not to mention what UNLV, SDSU, and Nevada could be doing.

Now would we play 16 conference games? 2 against teams in our division (10 games) then play every team in the other division once? (total of 16)

It would be awesome if half our conference was ranked!
And if it keeps getting stronger, more recruits are going to find that the MWC is NOT dead and will become even better.
MWC will become powerful like the big10 Big East and ACC.

And if one team were to go undefeated in conference play, they would have to be top 5 team in the country, being a 1 or 2 seed in the dance.

I'm foaming at the mouth thinking of the power house conference, someone give me some real feedback and tell me if that is not realistic? lol

Not to mention how good utah state is going to be once they can recruit even better being in the MWC. Scary thought.
The BYU-USU rivalry will soon replace the Utah BYU rivalry, and the utes will be an after thought and be a mid-level to bottom feeder in the Pac 12.

Not to mention what that conference could be in football, and how that could help

I don't see them coming back unless CT has a really amazing TV deal in the works for 2013 because at this point they still makenearly 5 times as much in the BE regardless what schools leave. However if any decision is going to be made it will be made by BSU because whatever they decide to do SDSU will be forced to follow suit.

if the ACC gets UCONN expect it

espn won't give two shits about the BE if they are no longer in their backyard

Agreed. They care more about the home team than they will admit.

Doesn't matter if they get UCONN. The Big East can still secure a big enough network deal that they still get more money being in the BE than being back in the MWC. Would they get less than currently assumed yes far less.

Right now they are going off the fact that if the BE stays together and nothing changed all the Football schools were looking at nearly $7 Million a year. That is 10 times what the MWC TV revenue paid, So even if they are dropped down to $3 million a year which is what is being assumed with the loss of the current schools that is still way more than the MWC can get.

The Mtn Network was before it's time and it was done wrong by comcast and other partners. If they would have marketed it nationally instead of only in the MWC Footprint it never would have gone under. No matter what happens there is no reason to be in the MWC because no network wants to broadcast the small schools. PAC 12 Network and BTN are prime examples of doing the conference Networks right. Our one chance for weekly Televised games is 100% gone get use to it because we will only be on TV when playing an opponent that will draw an audience otherwise our broadcast games will be in Wyoming and on Rootsports.
