Offense Comparison & Defense Comparison

This is going to be an interesting game, If it turns into a defensive battle Wyoming has the upper-hand in quite a few important categories however if this turns into a run and gun game it could get ugly fast. We need our D to hold strong early and force the Lobo's into bad shooting we can't give up easy boards and certainly can't give up easy buckets.

Either way I'm beyond excited for this conference schedule to start!
 
I honestly have butterflies right now over this game. I think how they do tomorrow will tell us truly who this team is or will be
 
Rebounding & giving the Loblows too many second & third chances on the offensive end is what worries me. If we give them a battle for the rebounds, and if the Wyoming crowd shows up and gets loud, we have a good chance at winning this game. Give em hell Pokes!

PS. I just checked the weather for today and the web-cams on the roads around Laramie and roads or weather will not be a factor in getting to the game today.

The showing wasn't as bad as you make it sound. The shooting drought in the 2nd half is what did the pokes in. Overall outside of that 19-2 run for the Lobos the Pokes were in it for the entire game.
 
We just struggle to get easy baskets. That's what will doom us against better teams. We have to work very hard and execute flawlessly against good teams to score.
 
What I noticed most was that the bench did not seem to be used much. So Cruz and Martinez of course were tired when it counted. Was Gilmore ever in? Is he hurt?

If you want the 3-boys to hit near games end, when you play them almost all the game, you make them run for an hour in practice while pumping weights, THEN have shooting practice. But nobody wants to do that, so you have a substitution strategy.

Gilmore was hurt. He injured his hand somehow and had to have stitches in it. I don't know this for sure, but I suspect we had some players out there today that were battling the flu. Larry Nance was one - his color was pale and he didn't act like he felt well. Not an excuse for the loss, but just what I observed.

I agree, thought there were numerous calls against the Pokes when the Lobos had possession that weren't called on the Cowboy end. Easy to see how the Lobos have made more FT's than their opponents have even attempted if this is how all their games have gone.Tough game, the Pokes played well enough I thought. They played the Lobos tough but came up just short. Got to give credit to the Lobos though, they shot lights out and the Pokes had a difficulty at times making shots. It could be a recurring theme in conference play this season as the MWC appears to be pretty tough top to bottom.

Yea no that ball was heading right down and he got it knocked out and got raped. Wyoming could have played a better game but like usual Steve had his lobos playing like assholes

Yeah, yeah- don't know if you recorded the game, but go back and look. A replay clearly showed no touch by the NM player and the ball deflecting off the rim.

Yeah, that's what happened. Live, it looked like contact, on the replay, the ball hit the rim and bounced off.
 
He got "white man can't jump"d by the rim and I'm not sure if he was even breathed on. But that isn't what killed us but it was the epitome of what went wrong. I think washington had a few point blank shots that didn't go in, plus a monster dunk that didn't get down (didn't see why that one didn't). We didn't put the easy buckets in and they shot pretty good.

Hit the nail on the head- too many unproductive possessions that resulted from unfinished easy plays. These guys need to stay focused and play the game one possession at a time. This game would've gone to the wire if there was more concentration and patience.
