CBSSports.com reported last week that a Big East contract could be worth as little as $60 million per year. Industry sources are saying now that number could be as low as $40 million per year. If that's the case, that's an average of $1.85 million per year per school. Seventy percent of that number would be football revenue, or $1.29 million. The Mountain West currently pays between $2 million-$3 million per year to its schools, according to sources.

Meaning that should it be that low, BSU and SDSU would be losing money by playing in such a far flung conference.

Also, on the AztecMesa board, the majority of their fans think they could go Indy and be successful, rather than come back to the MWC (the have a real hard-on for not wanting to play the Front Range schools, but had little issue with Tulane and ECU).

Not going to lie I hope they stay gone, I hope they burn their schools to the ground traveling across the nation and lose out on tons of recruiting. I hope it all bites them in the ass.

No matter what they do the 5 left over conferences from the 4 team play off system will likely never be part of that 4 team system. In order for those 5 conferences to be anything more than ignored they will need to build their own play off system.

They won't be back, They got such an ego form being invited to the BE and it's soooo over inflated that there is no way they are swallowing that pride and coming back. I hope the program crumbles it serves them right for putting the cart (football) before the horses (basketball) that have carried that school.

Now they are going to be making relatively the same money in the Big East, paying more for travel and likely losing recruits who are not interested in playing @ 4pm PST against teams that have zero relevancy. Thier Basketball program that brought in nearly a million in revenue last year which topped the MWC for Basketball revenue will drop to under 300K.

I think you are probable right, they will do and try everything not to come back, if they do come back it will be the very last option.
