Saw that Jeremy tweeted: Not a good...a GREAT night to be a Cowboy!! #gowyo

Sounds like they might have got another recruit?

They already have verbal commits for the two scholarships for next season from Jeremy Lieberman and Diontae Jones. Can juniors give a verbal?

Yep juniors can give verbals.

7th graders can give verbals.

Anyone can give a verbal. A verbal commitment is really just saying "I'm going to the University of -----"

I don't know. Could be a recruit. Could also be a number of other things...

Jonathan Barnes, 6'10" Forward from Ponderosa HS in Colorado. He is a 2014 recruit. Interesting since we only had 2 scholarships and those have been filled already. Somebody is leaving or losing their scholarship.

Just read on the other board that Wyoming beat out Washington St. and La Salle and Wichita St. for this kid.

With as good as La Salle was last year and Wichita St. being a final four team and WSU being a Pac 12 school this could be a great get. Kid seems to have a lot of upside. This will only be his 3rd year playing basketball.

Here is a link to what Jonathon Barnes did this summer against the top rated center in the country a 5 star recruit.

Adidas Invitational: Aytes’ 25 and 13 leads Dream Vision to win over Colorado Hawks

"As Aytes had his best performance at the Adidas Invitational, Zimmerman arguably had his worst. Only scoring six points, the 7’0″ center was challenged by the 6’10″ Barnes all game long. Despite the scoring struggles, Zimmerman continued his excellent rebounding ways, grabbing down 12 boards, while dishing out three assists. Barnes, a senior center from Ponderosa High School in Parker, Colorado, held his own with the highly-ranked Zimmerman, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots, Barnes was able to establish position on the block on each side of the ball, putting together his best performance in front of numerous college coaches."

Looks like he will be a great get by Shyatt. Nice to see him get someone with good size to add to the smaller players that we have. I think this kid could be a MWC player of the year candidate with Shyatt and staff working with him. He is still pretty raw, but is obviously big and seems athletic. He also appears to play good defense, I think he could be a real good player for us.

How often are verbal commits lost?

I see we are the only school he has visited, a little over a week ago. That kind of worries me a little.

I fell in love with the first girl that ever let me see her naked....but then I saw another one....

Be sweet if he turned out to be Leckner 2.0.

Great job by Shyatt. This recruiting class sounds like it is the best one so far.

I would be happy with a Jon Sommers 2.0.

The guy wants to play close to home, so unless the sheep or fluffs come calling, he'll be coming up here.

But the more I hear about this kid, the more I'm liking him.

Verbal commits aren't lost as often in basketball as football (sheer numbers and a single signing period lead to a lot of instability in football) and when they are it is usually an early verbal (Cameron Harvey or Darrington Hobson for example). A verbal made just 2 weeks before the signing period starts like this one is usually pretty solid.
