Nevada opens as -14 point favorite

I think that is a fair line considering it is on the road. I know they have a high powered offense but also has no defense. I expect brett to have another huge day and that the Nevada running game will also have a huge game. 14 points wouldn't be a surprise and neither would a closer game in my mind.

So you would be surprised if Wyoming was beat my more than 14 points?

I just wouldn't be surprised if it was closer, but I really wouldn't be surprised if it was Nevada in a blowout. Nothing would surprise me. It is really hard for me to guess what will happen because we have the same basic problem of having no defense and a great offense.

Yeah, its hard to know what will happen. Smith is great, but with a terrible O-Line (sorry, buy if Idaho gets great penetration, everyone will) and a subpar run game, you have to wonder how far Brett can take this team. I'm not sold on them getting in "scoring matches" every game. Teams will catch on to UW's lack of options. We'll know more Saturday though.

I disagree that our offense is high powered. If it was we hang 50 on Idaho and 40 something on Toledo. Even without Brett smith, we should be able to run 250+ on cal poly.

I think you see the offense at peak performance with all options healthy on the field. We get possibly our best receiver with Herron back and two full weeks to practice and get back to work. The offense isn't designed to be great run, it's a pass to run orientation wherein teams like Nevada will be a run to pass orientation. Cal Poly is a game we can just throw in the trash as we were without our best offensive weapons and the QB is the most important person on the field.

Even counting the Cal Poly game we are the #36 team in the nation passing the ball and Nevada is awful against the pass. Our strength is their weakness and their strength is our weakness.

Most of the off shore books I'm seeing have us at +15 or 15 1/2. I don't even know what to make of it. We haven't shown we can stop anyone yet so I'll probably just stay away.

Saying that Nevada doesn't have a good defense doesn't mean we are going to run rough shod over them, in fact that really probably means that they will have a banner day defensively against the pokes.

Pokes had to go into overtime to win that Pillow Fight with Idaho last week and it seems that every team they play
starts to look like they are top 25--until they play the next team on their schedule (like idaho when they played NC who isn't really a very good team).

Idaho is the only team we can say that with and it may have just as much to do with going into the game 0-4 and feeling like they let one get away the week before. Toledo hasn't lost since they played us, Cal Poly hasn't lost at all, Texas hasn't lost at all and overall the teams we have lost to have had great seasons so far. I think Idaho is the only team that is truly not a very good team.

Toledo almost lost to Coastal Carolina. Whom the following week got blasted by Appalachian State. The Rockets are just your typical MAC school.
