NCAA athletes can now profit off of name

A judge ruled the NCAA can not stop college football and basketball players from selling the rights to their names meaning they can get payouts when their careers are over.

So... Does this get juniors to leave school and get the immediate money sooner? Or come back for the senior year, knowing that you will get a bigger payout when you are done with football?

Two big points, imo...

1. Pay AFTER graduation. Think about that.
2. Pay only if University profits from likeness. Universities can switch to selling jerseys without actual player numbers. Lots and lots of wiggle room here.

Exactly, that's why teams like Texas A&M only sell one number. A&M sells #12 represent the 12th man. So if I'm a savvy incoming player, do I try to get jersey #12...hmm

Did you know Texas A&M sells the Seahawks the right use the 12th man slogan in a 7 state region in the northwest and requires that during the commercials that say it they publicly state that Texas A&M owns the trademark.

I honestly had no idea about that until the recent lawsuit over a fan using a 12th man slogan got sued.
